Motorola Announces Moto Q Phones

While we wait for the 'official' launch of the MotoYuva W180, Motorola has gone and announced two new Moto Q products in the country, i.e. the Moto Q 8, which is the GSM version of the original CDMA-based Moto Q; and the Moto Q 9h, the quad-band 3G Qwerty.

Both phones are based on the Windows Mobile OS, leverage Motorola's expertise in RF technology, and work well as messaging machines. In both phones, consumers can choose from eight messaging in-boxes for corporate and personal email. Besides, the phones are equipped with instant messaging capability.

The Moto Q 9h operates on the dual processor HSDPA/UMTS engine, enabling Broadband-like over-the-air downloads at up to 3.6Mbps. The phone's keyboard is ergonomically designed for quick text entry.

The Q 9h also features a TI OMAP 2420 processor, 96MB RAM, 2GB optional removable microSD storage, 256 MB on-board flash memory, integrated Bluetooth wireless technology stereo profiles (A2DP and AVRCP), and a 2.0 mega pixels camera with 8x digital zoom and video play back at 30 frames per second (fps).

The 9h's full color screen incorporates adaptive display technology, whereby light sensors on the front and back help automatically adjust screen and keyboard brightness for optimum usability and readability.

The phone comes with a default Opera browser that includes Small-Screen Rendering (SSR) technology for re-formatting Web page content to match the size of small mobile screens.

The 9h supports Java, and plays host to applications like WorldMate (for checking flight schedules/updates), Splash (for storing credit card and other information), Yahoo! Go (for checking Yahoo! News and Yahoo! Mail, and uploading pictures to Flickr accounts), and Sudoku.

The Moto Q 8 and the Moto Q 9h will be available at all Indian Motostores and participating retailers. The Moto Q 8 GSM is available for a MRP of Rs 17,359 (with a best buy price of Rs 16,499), while the Moto Q 9h comes for a MRP of Rs 20,720 (with best buy price Rs 19,499). Both phones bundle a 1GB mini SD Card and a portable charger.

Right, coolrajiv, i did not read properly. I also presume that the CDMA model is available only in Tata CDMA and not for Reliance. I have been waiting for a long time for a Windows Mobile based Reliance CDMA model and have been avoiding the tinkered models such as the UTC 6700. CDMA users get the antiques of models and Reliance CDMA users are even farther behind to Tata!
