Honest 836 Report post Posted November 16, 2007 (edited) ^^^ My dear friend, you can use STD calling cards of BSNL in which you will get STD rates as low as Re.1.67/- per minute to any operator throughout India. And if you make STD calls mostly on Reliance phones than the best bet is Rs.875/- STD calling card of Reliance, in which you will get free calling to Reliance Mobile phones throughout India between 11.00 pm and 6 am. Regards. Edited November 17, 2007 by Honest

Himanshu Singh 19 Report post Posted November 19, 2007 If you have a Tata indicom number in Bihar you could take a Tata number yourself and then with the lowest rental plan of Rs124 you could avail an add on pack of Rs.25/month and your std calls to that particular number would be 25paise/minute.That means for an effective rental of Rs.149/month you could call that particular number @25paise per minute. The cath as I already told you is that both of you shoudl have Tata indicom numbers! srk006 21 Report post Posted December 12, 2010 (edited) Thought of posting here instead of a new topic... Which operator provides the cheapest STD tariff in AP? Currently using RCDMA with 50p/min. I am looking for sub-40p tariff. Is there any? preferably on GSM. CDMA will entail additional handset expense!! Edited December 12, 2010 by srk006
Karthik R 246 Report post Posted December 12, 2010 Virgin mobile in the GSM segmet have an offer whereby one can make all local and std calls @ flat rate of 40p/min. No validity, plans or cap on usage applicable on this
raccoon 53 Report post Posted December 12, 2010 :previous:Not sure if its valid for AP circle, but I guess its valid pan India (please verify) - Virgin was/is giving 40p/min tariff without any special vouchers. Even cheaper option, if the numbers you are calling are on landlines, you could use BSNL landline. It would cost you Rs. 0.90 - 1.2 per 3 min.
Karthik R 246 Report post Posted December 12, 2010 The 40p/min rates are applicable for Virgin Mobile’s prepaid GSM subscribers in all the 16 telecom circles it is presently in, including AP
srk006 21 Report post Posted December 12, 2010 (edited) Thanks karthik and raccoon, will check out virgin gsm. Another option I am considering is uninor with 5-60% discount on 50p/min plan. I guess no more options are left (?) Edited December 12, 2010 by srk006
confused_follower 12 Report post Posted December 12, 2010 (edited) Thanks karthik and raccoon, will check out virgin gsm. Another option I am considering is uninor with 5-60% discount on 50p/min plan. I guess no more options are left (?) I thought uninor only gives discount on Local calls? Can anyone please confirm. As per their website STD discount is only for UP, Gujrat, WB, Karnataka and that too only on 1p/s (i.e. 60p/min) Edited December 12, 2010 by confused_follower
srk006 21 Report post Posted December 12, 2010 their website shows Rs.28 recharge gives "50p/min with 5% to 60% assured discount" for 90 days.
Karthik R 246 Report post Posted December 12, 2010 Recharge value - Rs. 28 Discount on STD calls Validity - 90 Days Recharge value - Rs. 48 Discount on Local calls Validity - 1 year. Though they claim the discount is upto 60 per cent, please be wary that it seldom exceeds 20 per cent.
raccoon 53 Report post Posted December 12, 2010 The 40p/min rates are applicable for Virgin Mobile's prepaid GSM subscribers in all the 16 telecom circles it is presently in, including AP Thanks for clarifying. As for Uninor's discounts, it *seems* they are giving better discounts on the 50p local plan. Discount does go upto 60%, sometimes. But personally, I'd find checking discounts every time before calling quite irritating. Voice clarity however is superb, and you may want to consider it just for that. This is true in Poona and adjoining areas.
