mozilla 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2007 Hi guys, I bought a new ZTE USB Modem from Reliance outlet and they promised me a speed of more than 140Kbps. But it connects at the status of 28.8Kbps all the times. It gives very slow response when opening sites. I tried to download a 7.5MB driver file from reliance site. The download startes at the transfer rate of >20KB/s and it suddenly degrades and became stable to 5KB/s.I am experiencing very poor net speed with this.it is showing full signal range and i already installed Net booster s/w.When i checked in reliance site, they mentioned about the 28.8Kbps problem and to solve that we have to upgrade something. But i didn't understand what they exactly mean and how to do that.Pls help me regards-Abu

Stardom 1 Report post Posted April 30, 2008 Hi, I am having the same problem. The ZTE MG880 modem that I have, when connected to my laptop (Acer - AMD Turion 64 - 2.0 Ghz), connects at 28.8kbps (connection speed). The wodnload speed is as low as 0.01 kbps. Infact, as mentioned by you, 5 kbps is extremely rare, and I toh consider it fast now . (Ye haalat hai ! ) The modem works fine on my friend's computer (IBM thinkpad - Intel ). As I figured out, this is a peculiar problem to a articular Acer models. See this link http://priceguru.in/?p=895&page=1&cp=all and search for comments by abhisek Also see these links http://www.consumercomplaints.in/complaint...ard-c39653.html http://www.consumercomplaints.in/complaint...ect-c24754.html ( Search for 28.8 ) Also, c this link http://www.google.co.in/search?num=30&...earch&meta= The link that u sent had this to say : ( http://www.rcom.co.in/webapp/Communication..._trouble.jsp#q8 ) AfteReliance Netconnected, OS inform: connection speed: 28.8Kbps. Cause: The firmware and client software is too old. Solution: * Upgrade the firmware to 25.07.016 or above. * Upgrade the client software to HOST25.06.016 or above. And there is no link given whatsoever of upgrading the firmware. It would be good if anyone can provide with a link to the firmware upgrade.
