Soaps Coming to Mobile Screens

The banner that gave us path-breaking films like "Maine Pyaar Kiya" and "Hum Aapke Hain Kaun" will now give us the first ever serial for mobile phone users in the country.

Rajshri Productions' younger scion and head honcho of Rajshri Media, Rajat Barjatya, is set to introduce a 90-episode series meant for mobile phones by the end of January 2008.

Each episode will be of approximately three minutes duration, with the series set in the humor genre.

Rajshri Media was launched last year, and specializes in producing content for new media, including the Internet, mobile phones, and iPods. Earlier on, the company released Rajshri Productions' "Vivaah" simultaneously in theaters and on the Web.

The upcoming 90-episode serial for mobiles is claimed to be very desi, very compelling, and one-of-its-kind.

Commenting on the way forward, Rajat Barjatya said that previously there was cinema and television. Today, there are PCs, mobile phones, and devices like the iPod. So they have to now look at these third, fourth, and fifth screens; the PC, the mobile, and the iPod, respectively.

No exact idea about the pricing and availability on cdma rcom mobiles, my dear Kumaar. I think it must depends on the file size that we download to view the serials and can include some fix charges for a particular serial also.

Hope that all the information may be available soon. I will update as I get the latest information.

Regards.

My friend recently bought Chinese dual SIM handset capable of showing TV from Air as well as cable connection. Isnt it better than this expensive way?

@kshah

Yes my dear friend you are 100% right, these chinese handsets with capabilities of TV Tuners are definetely the cheapest and the best source available. But the sale of these handsets is not much. Only few people go for these chinese handsets.

Instead of paying heafty bills to mobile operators for downloading the streams, one can go for these chinese handsets easily available in the market @ Rs.6000/- approximately and watch the live T.V. channels on their mobile screens.

AFAIK, the Chinese handsets costs below 5.5k and if one can bargain, it can go down to even 4k. And yes, the video and the audio effect on the Chinese handset is really awesome. I have seen the Air transmission as well as the cable transmission. Both are very good. You can also rotate the view to landscape mode. Other features are normal only. Nothing extraordinary except TV- IN. The handset is manufactured by ZTE, China.

@shyam

My dear friend, we can't judge the life of any mobile handsets whether it is Nokia, LG, Samsung or typical Chinese one. Any problem can occur in almost any handset regardless to its make.

Does it tune-in to the regular cable TV or terrestrial broadcast (like doordarshan)?
