kshah 452 Report post Posted February 1, 2008 I saw HCL computers, 15999 for celron, 2 GB memory, 512 MB RAM, wifi, 7" screen, linux. I have been reading this topic but could not comment as I was not aware. Good for e mail, chatting, limited browsing and some amount of office work. May cause fatigue and could be second device to substitute laptops. It is definately a very good low cost, very light weight device which can be used rough. With IMAP mail configurations and removable 8-16 GB flash drive, one can safeguard valuable data while on move. Also with increasing storage on mail servers and web, such devices can be a good choice for people who do not like to carry bulky, expensive laptops while traveling. Because these devices can run standard OS, it can be used practically for every thing, especially in coming days when Wi-fi / Wimax will be deployed. THere was another same size device with Pentium processor, 1 GB ram, 80 GB HDD, built in web cam and all other high end features except optical drive. Costing 36000. This device, with all features- its seems to be a fancy device and con not be used for very long duration. I am still thinking where such devices can be used. There seems to be possibility but yet to discover where to apply. HCL is using Intel processors hence people may prefer. But VIA procesors too are good. I think ACI is offering better specs than HCL
