vmsanghrajka 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 Aiming at further mobile penetration in the country, Anil Ambani's Reliance Communications is gearing up to launch a 'lifetime' connection offer for Rs 199 against the company's current charges of Rs 649, the lowest from any service provider in the country. The soon-to-be-launched service would enable subscribers to make a call at 99 paise per minute to others, SP Shukla, president ( wireless), Reliance Communications, told PTI. Reliance Communications, which has a subscriber base of 41 million as on December 31, 2007, hopes to add a "significant" number of subscribers to its fold with this offer. "Going forward, we hope to have more than half of our customers under the lifetime fold," Shukla said, adding that this offer would also help the company to significantly increase its topline. The offer would not have any linkage with handsets and subscribers can use any handset to avail the offer, he said. srk006 21 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 ^^ I don't think there would be any more increase in tariff.. atleast for the next 5 years!! Its even possible that lifetime users gets their call rates slashed to Rs.0.50. All operators are considering lifetime customers to be their big ticket to increasing customer base in the wake of number portability.
vishalkumar 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 I agree with honest. The rates are going to be reduced, as they want to target more customers. With number portability set to become a reality soon, they want to get in as many customers as possible.
srk006 21 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 One doubt... Is it possible to convert a lifetime prepaid number to a postpaid connection?
I_C_U 10 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 With new companies lined up for entering into telecom business, the competition for aquiring & retaining customer is bound to increase. Hence the tariff has the only way to go - South. Benefit and Enjoy!
rajeshkatiyar 3 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 Dear friends These schemes are mainly to catch new customers and retain existing one . In UP reliance web worlds are mostly vacant and hardly have customers thanks to poor quality sets and bad connectivity In future they may have to go even lower because of the rotten image

But now the total scenario has been changed as many new operators are in the que to start their services. This will attract more competition and call charges from all operators will reduce only. Honest 836 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 One doubt... Is it possible to convert a lifetime prepaid number to a postpaid connection? ^^^ @srk Yes my dear friend, you can convert a Lifetime Prepaid to a Postpaid connection, but for the same if it is done then the Lifetime cause will be gone for ever from your handset. That means if you convert your lifetime prepaid to postpaid connection then you can't avail the benefits of lifetime schemes. Regards.

Source: http://www.business-standard.com/common/st...mp;autono=33347 i asked about this offer and its WORSE than the 649 lifetime! you must recharge with a min of 200 every 6 months so instead of paying only about 650 earlier (since this is now withdrawn), you will pay 599 the 1st year and 400/year after that! for those who want over 3/4th incoming only - you overpay after 18 months of use... sspadmin 1 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 Good .. finally Reliance awake... anyway jaab Jagoo taab Savera... But again .Reliance does it again.... one has to keep spending RS 200 per six month means Rs 33 per month to keep alive the incoming calls free connection. In Rs 649 plan it was Rs 125 per three month means Rs 41... almost same.... Why one need to charge so heavily and so frequntly to keep the connection alive, then what is the meaning of Life-Time Incoming free? If u r not charging means u will not get Incoming calls... means it is not free at all. What do u think? If it is lifetime Free it means totally Free only... nothing else. KumaarShah 143 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 (edited) ^^^ What you say makes absolute sense in our heads, but not in the heads of the operators. They are here only to earn money from us by hook or by crook. They are not here to do any sort of "Janta Seva" And Rs 33 per month is not a heavy amount by any standard. It works out to just a little bit more than a measly buck a day!!!! Free Life time Incoming also comes at a cost and the operators are subsidising the initial cost (Rs 199 or so) to us and charging running costs (Rs 200 / 6months or so) which would not pinch anybody. At the same time, they also earn a substantial sum of money. This way their subscriber base also increases manifold and they can get additional spectrum etc and also they can get a sizeable valuation if and when they want to sell out. (a la Hutch) It is a sort of quid pro quo scenario. The subscriber gets long term validity and the operator gets a reasonable revenue. IMHO, its a fair deal. AFAIK, RCOM is the only operator who is giving such a wonderful LT scheme in which you can also use all available STVs.
