ravjeet 3 Report post Posted February 15, 2008 (edited) Procedure to convert ppc6800 to ruim . 1)remove back cover (4 screws) remove the thin sheet metal plate stuck on the pcb. 2) will see six points on the pcb . 3) solder sim tray on these points see direction of ruim card photo att . Remember we require the sim tray as per pin config att 4)solder jumpers as per photo att 5)cut the sheet metal sheet as to accommodate the sim tray. 6)as we have put the sim tray the original battery will not fit find extended battery cover and use it with standard battery . 7)upgrade radio to 1.47.01 .might have to unlock the pda to upgrade radio . Procedure can be found on net as titan unlocker. 8) in qpst change config to ruim if available can be done with cdma workshop free version also. Phone is ready for reliance service use photos.zip Edited March 15, 2008 by ravjeet

Is it not possible to get a remolded back cover of PPC accomidating RUIM slot? I think if one goes to FRP molder, he can mold FRP covers. Fiber Reinforced Plastics can me made in any color, with very high gloss. (Helmets are made from FRP). Making wood mold may cost less than 750 buck. I will suggest RIMWEBIANS who are interested in buying 6800 from US, ontribute some money to person who has 6800 and he can get covers made and then gives covers at cost or add little profits to cover his out of pocket expenses. Covers can be as thin as 1.5 mm Edited February 17, 2008 by kshah
HetalDP 947 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 LiION Battery Contains Cell with Liquid so to Protect it a Hard Metal Cell is Needed but in LiPoly which only have High Quality Polymer dont need Metal Casing so it will be more Thin and its Cell can be Unassembled from to Better accommodate into PPC6800 Kalpak Idea to Rather go for New Back Cover is Best I have PPC6700 with Extended 2100 mah Battery which have 2x Thick Battery with Customised Back Cover so With in Next 2 Month we will see Extended Battery for 6800 with Extended Battery Cover also. ssr 10 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 (edited) Yes, I prefer spending money on molded cover insted of disturbing battery. Also I am not sure, rather using battery sujjested by ravjeet, If I try to use standard battery for 6800 with molded backcover, Since from the design of 6800, there is no space b/w battery and board. Does battery sit properly over the board contacts, after soldering RUIM slot?. If this no prob then it is gr8. Sideo already has std and extd Lipoly batteries for 6800. http://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp?Page...&ProdID=814 http://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp?Page...&ProdID=888 Edited February 17, 2008 by ss_rakesh
