NEW DELHI: The CDMA-based mobile service operators added 3.4 lakh customers in June, taking the subscriber base to 80.7 lakh. Of this Reliance cornered a major chunk of the pie, with 73 lakh mobile service subscribers.

This was as per the latest subscription figures released by the Association of Unified Telecom Service Providers of India.

The overall telephone base of all these operators stood at 1.1 crore, of which 12.5 lakh were wireline subscribers, 16.9 lakh WLL (fixed line) and the rest, digital mobile users. Reliance Infocomm, which operates its CDMA services across 20 circles including Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, MP, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Maharashtra, hiked its total subscriber base to 79.8 lakh in June, adding 3.5 lakh customers.

During the month, Tata Teleservices’ base stood at 20.3 lakh. Of this, 7.1 lakh were mobile users, 9.3 lakh were WLL users and the remaining were wireline users.

The subscriber base of Bharti Telenet, which operates in Chennai, Delhi, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, was at 7 lakh during June ‘04. Bharti does not offer CDMA-based fully mobile services.

The total subscriber base of HFCL Infotel in Punjab and Shyam Telelink in Rajashan stood at 1.7 lakh and 1.2 lakh respectively.
