The drives, which have been refurbished to complement WD’s popular My Book range of external drives, now bundle a sleek new form that is compact enough to fit in well in the users’ hands, in a pocket or purse. Sharad Srivastava, Director Sales (India & South Asia), Western Digital stated, “The newly designed My Passport Essential drives are the perfect travel-friendly storage device to hold the rich media content generated by higher resolution photos and HD videos and music.” Adding, “The desire to carry and keep their digital files close at hand continues to grow and this new drive offers a sleek and stylish solution with plenty of storage capacity for consumers on the move.” The My Passport Essential USB Drives feature a beautiful glossy black finish and incorporate practically a third of a terabyte of digital storage in a body that weighs in at only 5 ounces. They are bus powered and do not need an external power adapter. The latest WD drives includes sync and encryption software (Windows-compatible only). With the Sync software, users can take desktop content with them by simplifying the synchronization of important personal files and Microsoft Outlook data on a PC. In case owners misplace the drive, they are ensured with the fact that their data is protected with 128-bit encryption. The Google software on the drive enables users to quickly locate files with the Google Desktop Search tool, manage photos with Picasa photo organizer software and simplify internet searches with the Google Toolbarsearch bar.
