A man from Andhra Pradesh's Adilabad district was arrested today for allegedly floating a web page on a popular blogging site falsely stating that Reliance Anil Dhirubai Ambani Group (ADAG) was soon entering into multi-level marketing (MLM).

MLM, also referred to as network marketing, is a business distribution model that allows a parent MLM company to market their products directly to consumers by means of relationship referral and direct selling.

The matter came to light when the legal department of the ADAG filed a complaint with the cyber cell on March 18. The complaint said that someone had launched a webpage (http://reliancemlmindia.blogspot.com) and was trying to cheat people.

On the website, the 36-year-old had claimed that ADAG is entering into MLM businesses, including selling mobile phone handsets and insurance policies, starting April 10 and invited applications for the same.

Cyber cell officials traced the IP address and reached a cyber cafe in Adilabad district's Mancherial town from where the webpage was uploaded. From the cafe's log book, it was ascertained that Thaduvayi had used the computer.

Thaduvayi also gave the investigators the password to a contact e-mail ID given on the web page from where a lot of information has been recovered, they said.

Being a marketing person, Reddy’s schemes were well-planned, the police said. “It was a well-planned trap, but we foiled it before it became a big scam,” DCP Sanjay Mohite said.

Reddy just wanted those interested to fill up a form, giving their personal details, including name and address. He, however, did not demand any money from them, the police said.

The man has been booked under IPC sections 468 (forgery) and 419 (cheating by impersonation), they said.

When is Shaj going to be arrested? http://www.rimweb.in/forums/index.php?showtopic=12053
