Utsav 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2004 Here goes my favourite picture attached herewith. It appears on my PC so often that I have stopped hating it unlike others. I have seen a peculiar problem in my PC while accessing the LG RD2030 with Bitpim. I don't know whether this problem is unique with my PC (as usual) or it has been experienced my many users. But, I really want to raise this topic in this forum. My PC starts misbehaving all of a sudden during accessing the file-system through Bitpim. It stops recognising my RD2030 and stops communicating with it showing the pop-up message attached herewith. Sometimes, Bitpim stops recognising the phone even after disclosing the directory tree appearing under first [+] sign under file-system tab. It may sound weird, but, it is true that i don't know when it will start recognising my phone again. Previously, I have tried various steps like 1. Restoring Serial port drivers using System File Checker, 2. Uninstalling and reinstalling of Serial Ports, 3. Disabling and enabling Serial ports through BIOS and even... 4. REINSTALLING WINDOWS on my SYSTEM! But what appeared is that nothing could restore the accessibility but sheer luck! As it has gone with the wind, in one fiene morning it appeared with the same again. Any light in this regard? What i wanna know is that is it one of the congenital problems lying with the Serial Port of my Motherboard or it may have some other reasons. Have anyone faced this unpredictable accessibility ever? Any solutions?

Code 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2004 (edited) Never happened with me on bitpim 0.62 on XPHome Sp1. I think it may be an issue with either Ur motherboard or the datacable. Off Topic turbasu don't mind - but how about specifying a Post title that accurately reflects Ur topic? It will make the life of moderators more easier ... and posting like this one though may attract attention of more people - may not necessarily fetch more answers. My 2 Paise. BTW even a app based on bitpm I am developing - works well but I am on a virtual COM port. Edited July 11, 2004 by StaticElectricity
Chirag 5 Report post Posted July 11, 2004 I get this kind of an error whenever i dont restart BITPIM after restarting the Handset. To avoid this error, simply click on ( + ) on the top of the file structure each time after u restart the phone after loading a ringtone/wallpaper... and once again click on ( + ) such that the entire file-structure shows up again.. Now this error wudn't come up while u overwrite a new tone! Hope this helps!

Thanks CODE for ur advice. You are right and I'll keep ts in mind while posting. Thanks to Chirag too, but I wonder when every thing goes well, I don't need to open the [+] sign twice or fiddle with my phones OS. BITPIM simply works when it does and simply refuses when it doesn't
Code 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2004 It may be an issue with LG RD mobiles .. also bitpim is not designed for the models we are using.

amtrag 20 Report post Posted July 14, 2004 hi, The best solution, known till date is to use bitpim ver .62 as already advised by me long back, and now confirmed by Code above... I use Win XP with bitpim ver .62 & USB cable, and my success rate is >99%. Whenever I restart my phone, I close bitpim and then start it again...and it never gives any errors, I don't have to try a second time! Restarting bitpim everytime requires a 'bit' of patience though...

Utsav 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 This prob is solved as I've purchased a new Branded Cable as the last cable's connector got broken. After attaching the new cable, I've never experienced this trouble in detecting the phone for over two months! Thanks to all of you for those helpful comments. Utsav 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2004 Still, the question that haunts me is, why the cable used by me prior to the new one could communicate between my RIM and PC smoothly, once detected?
