sgiitk 32 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 I think BSNL has been reusing numbers for ages. This was why I kept on getting calls for the previous holder for quite some time. I am all for a three digit STD code followed by a 7 digit number, i.e. 10 digits in all. I am sure this will accommodate places like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata etc. who all have two digit STD codes at the moment! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Besides, the country is also adding 150 million new cellular customers every year. I don't think this is correct. At least one of my past numbers (Airtel), which I stopped using, is back in circulation. It has obviously been allotted to some new customer. Also, my current Idea number, which I got about 2 years ago, is from an old series. If it wasn't recycled, then I don't see how they could have allotted such an old series number to me. If it wasn't recycled, then I don't see how they could have allotted such an old series number to me. in fact my two vodafone numbers were re alloted to someone else in olden days, there was no concept of lifetime, now companies don't deactivate ur number even after year, if u continue to use as incoming or not read they keep subsciber active to show them that they are number 1 or number 2 operator also to hold spectrum..
