kshah 452 Report post Posted April 22, 2008 I came across KGB archiver (it is old but relatively appear to be unknown) i compressed MS office 2007 installer CD of 438 MB in just 1.5 MB. I think this could be great tool for data back up, 1 DVD could hold lots of data. http://kgbarchiver.net/
ashoksoft 83 Report post Posted April 22, 2008 Uncompress the archive - it'll not work (it'll extract - all files, including exe's with corresponding icons - but when you run the exe you'll realize that all the data in the executable / other data files have been zero blanked except the headers . Tested KGB ages ago - it was the official package dll for CORE releases. cheers karki

thinkpositive 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 Me too tried the same.... Files after extraction are not working. Tried with a notpad file of size some around 32kb. its zipped to few bytes. extracted.... not opening.
ashoksoft 83 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 The same archiver can be used to give excellent - but proper compression to existing ARCHIVE files like zip, when CORE releases are launched we have the application in a multipart zip - recompressed to RAR and then to KGB. Though the extraction time is way higher - the compression factor is equally good. Alternatively the ARZ format is pretty kewl cheers karki
spknair 1 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 I had tested and removed (its installer also) a year ago. Does any one using KGB without any problem? I have a file of 4.5 MB which including Windows Vista and MS Office 2007 !!!!!!!!! I had extracted file to its original size of 3.5 GB. If any one used this software, can assume how much time I had wasted! About one day!! and extracted files were useless KGB "QUIT INDIA"
