Blackberry 9000 Gets A Name, Introducing The Blackberry Bold

Recommended Posts

Isnt it just? Bold new design, bold new flavor? We are really not feeling the name here, but it may be that Waterloo’s home team has decided to plonk the name Bold on the BlackBerry 9000. Perhaps they’ve just decided to tout the horn a bit with this wild and crazy departure from typical BlackBerry fare — come on, check how rounded those corners are. Either way, the boldly large and curvy handset is surely going to cause a ruckus once announced and dropped on your local retailer’s shelves. We’re still feeling the name BlackBerry Clunk might have been better, but hey, that’s just us.

the first thought on our minds when we saw the BlackBerry 9000 in its natural habitat for the first time was, "that's it?" RIM's been taking on increasingly sharp competition as of late -- even in its traditional corporate strongholds -- and we'd expected and hoped to see something less evolutionary and more revolutionary from these cats. On closer inspection, though, we find that the phone is leaving a very positive second impression. The phone's lines seem flow really well (dare we call a BlackBerry "sexy"?) without losing its purpose-suited stance exuded by the 8300s, 8700s, and 8800s of yore. The real kicker, though, might be the beautiful user interface, which has been totally revamped from the ground up; gone is the cartoonish look and feel of the current lineup, replaced with a modern, warm theme with wireframe icons and slick animations. Another big win: as Vodafone's slide deck mentioned, the 9000 features both WiFi and HSDPA, confirmed by this particular example's info display. Too little, too late -- or is this thing a genuine threat in the marketplace this year? Follow the break for a video of the hot new UI in action!

I am sure people buying Nokia E71 will be more happy than BB BOLD users.

why go for BB when other supports BB as well as other pushmail solutions.

Nokia E71 is very solid build. All metal frame and metal body. Thats why despite being just 10 mm thick, its 130 grams

all those few people planning to go for balckberry bold check this out

orange uk has currently discontinues the sale of bb bold due to variuos complaints from their customers the most common bben frequent crashes n resets

foolowing is a statement from orange

“Following reports of software issues with the BlackBerry Bold handset across a variety of mobile operators, Orange has decided to act in the interest of its customers by suspending shipments of the device in the UK. We are currently awaiting feed back from RIM as to when an industry wide fix for these issues will be in place, and expect this suspension to be an interim measure. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may cause you. BlackBerry/RIM are doing everything they can to resolve this issue and will be completing full testing and validation to ensure future handsets do not have any quality issues. This may take a couple of weeks so it’s up to us to do what’s best for our customers.”

Blackberry Bold (GSM) was already launched for Reliance. So once Reliance launches GSM nationwide, it will be available everywhere. The GSM service might get officially launched nationwide by this year end. You can follow this topic: http://www.rimweb.in/forums/index.php?showtopic=13051

Blackberry Bold CDMA is not announced yet by RIM (Research in Motion).

BB Bold doesn't supports CDMA - it is a pure GSM/WCDMA phone, no chance of it coming on Reliance Mobile CDMA.
