Why Nokia Going Down In Terms Of Quality?

Recommended Posts

When Nokia entered in CDMA Market, it produced very good products like 2112, 3105, 3205, 6255, 6585, 3125. These phones have exellent range coverage, good battery backup, no heating at all. I personally had 2112, 3105, 3125, 6585. And i was haapy with them. Now its giving us cheap products like 1325, 2505, 2255, 6088. Presently 6275 is a good phone(i've that right now).. but its overpriced. What the hell happened to them?

you are absolutely correct, Nikhil. Now TATA indcom started giving 20% discount for Nokia handsets on my Kerala circle through True Value Hubs.

Well Nokias 2000 series are always entry level handsets, so comes with cheap quality to keep the price cheap.

6000 series is i always love of Nokia. Be it 6610 or 6110.

Nokia always bet on their 6K series phones.

regarding 6088 they are doing time pass with CDMA :)

I dont buy the explaination that entry level handsets mean that they have to be "cheap quality"! Entry level means they have minimal a minimal feature set. In fact many "entry level" handsets have BETTER voice clarity and reception... and do a noticibaly better job of what a phone is supposed to do; ie. make calls!

And Nokia definitely seems to be declining in quality... and rather than asking why, I'd ask which other makes can fetch me a better deal... :)

Nokia does not seems to be interested in CDMA, they have their strength in GSM and I think in GSM, they have best phones.

In countries like India, cheap has to be cheap. Also most companies knows that Indians take buying decisions based on references and not actual data. Hence though I do not like samsung personally, I believe they make best quality phones in any given price range. Still they do not sell as much as Nokia / LG coz LG is poor mans nokia and nokia is rich mans LG.

Well, I was talking about Nokia in general... esp. GSM... as I dont have any experience with Nokia CDMA. I did have a bad experience with the 1st and only GSM Nokia I bought several months back. And a few of my friends have had similar experiences... and have decided not to touch Nokia again...

What seems definite is that Nokia just isnt what it used to be...

What its use to be ??

Well nokia never ever launched handset in cheap rate like 2k.

I remember u had this bad experience with some entry level handset, right?

But now in indian and african market they are forced to launch handset which they have never ever worked.

Nokias strength is in their software R&D and some major GSM patents they hold.

U cant name one model in S60 series which is low quality, except N77 i think, ( Some manufacturing defect)

also mostly all entry level handsets are cheap quality irrespective of brand.

Does any pune shop offer such discount? Many nokia handsets are capable of taking tata as well as reliance cards.

Shaiksadik, you are right, my personal experience was with a basic GSM Nokia (1112). But I know and have known many people who have used and are using basic Nokias made some 5 ish years ago (3310, if I remember correctly), without a single problem! And many of them have been used quite rough! Some even going good with the original batts!!

And now I know few people with much higher end Nokia handsets (cant recall the model numbers), who have multiple problems with their handsets - ph hanging, automatically switching off for absolutely no reason, headsets going kaput, etc, etc...

So what inference can one draw??

I still dont buy the explainiation that a handset can be unreliable & non durable just because its a basic handset. If any brand subscribes to such a philosophy, it should be avoided by customers. And I believe that other bands do make decent basic handsets...

Well at the time of 3310 and 3330 handset price was around 7 to 8k, and with basic features.

Where's today 7k handset have all the mm feature with BT and what not.

That time they spend on durability and not on chipset, now they have to spend on all the chipset with paying royalty to their respective patent owners.

nokia is the major spender on cellular technology research and development in the whole world, i remember they merge their network dept with seimens just to reduce cost.

also as the competition arising price war, products are going cheap and quality getting reduced in each and everything.
