gopinath billavara annu 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2004 I bought a RD 7230 mobile. But I am unable to set a new wallpaper from the net. I have heard that you can set any pic as wallpaper i.e I tried to connect to a pic of 160X120 ; 256 color image from the net through my mobile. I always get the message " unable to request data ". I even used different image like .bmp , .png also but to no use. Does any one know how to view images or download from the net using the RD 7230 mobile phone. What are the image types supported and the resolution i.e color depth and the size. Please
Code 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2004 Are U trying to download from a wap site of yours?? I don't think U can get a image placed on a html page in any case. Not sure of wap site either. The image should be a 256 color bitmap with the specs U mentioned. Also U can try using Pc sync app or bitpim to directly add the image file into Ur phone. gopinath billavara annu 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2004 Yes, we can add image from Pc sync or bitpim. But what i want is from a web site say ex: www.freewebs.com/billavara/32.bmp which is a 160x120 ,256 color image file. Is this possible from my mobile (RD 7230). Any Help on this
Code 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2004 May be U can post the image with appropriate link on a wap site (I am not a wap expert ) and try. But still I have doubts coz - How will the set make out which of the 20 slots is ready to get the image?? If the Jatayuu Browser client can do that for you then it is possible. gopinath billavara annu 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 Ok. since I am not a wap expert nor a cell phone expert I don't know what is this slots. Ok leave that aside. I am not able to get this Jatayuu Browser client in the net also. I searched them in google but i was'nt able to get it. If you can provide more details it would be helpful. Fine from the result it figures it is not directly possible to download a image from an normal web site. That means i have to create a wap site and try to get the image. Even this is not sure. Ok. anyway not a problem will try. CODE - YOU HAVE BEEN A GREAT HELP. THANKS
gopinath billavara annu 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 I used the TAGTAG.COM wap site to download but I got the same error " Unable to get request process ".
Code 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 Dude Sorry for being technical. 1.U need not search anywhere for the Jataayu Browser client. It is already within Ur handset and it is the one U R using to "Surf" in R-World. I don't know what is this slots 2. Ur phone can store up to 20 images for wallpapers (I think) and within the phone's file system they have unique names like image1,image2 and corresponding headers. When U save a wallpaper from R-World the Java applet at R-World will automatically check which of these 20 positions are empty and will place the image there and set it as current wall paper. If none of them are empty U will be asked to overwrite one of them OR cancel. All these things happen automatically behind the scenes when U press the save button. Now coming back to our wap page image of which we are viewing the link on the minibrowser(Jataayu) of Ur mobile. My doubt is who is gonna coordiante the steps I mentioned in the previous paragraph that leads to saving of the image. The minibrowser should do - If it doesn't have that facility then U can't save any images thru it. Sorry for being long but hope it clarifies Ur doubt a little . gopinath billavara annu 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 Ok let me say what i understood. so the wap sites which i surf in my mobile are called Jataayu aka minibrowser. They act like IE to my mobile phone. So they dont have the facility to save any images or see any images while i surf. If i am right. Ok what is the work around . How do i replace with another minibrowser say speaking replace my IE with mozilla or Firefox. Or is there any way to enable them or etc ?. I am getting a hang of my mobile on my head. Code 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 Nope there is no such a thing feasible as replacing with our own custom browser(as on your desktop) AFAIK. If the current version doesn't allow then we should wait and hope that it is Updated by R-World/jataayu ppl in future.
StaticElectricity 8 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 as far as i know, reliance, (or even jataayu browesr) does not support downloading of any DATA content except for wap sites, embeded WBMPS. also, the other jataayu browser, available at www.midilet.org, only shows "Data Content Cannot Be Shown On This Browser" that means, no downloading from any wap site, not even tagtag. gopinath billavara annu 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2004 So the Reliance techies did like it. Ok. What if i create a wap site and embed a .WBMP image in it. Will this work ?? . If the answer is "NO". How is the R-world able to show images. Are we dumb enough that we got to see only images provided by the Reliance's R-World. Eh

How is the R-world able to show images. Are we dumb enough that we got to see only images provided by the Reliance's R-World. Eh well, u see, what exactly can we download? what is Downloading? Downloading means making an Active save of data content of a file, so that it can be used again later. the file name is only an identifier for the data. and as for the phone, it can only Download things (eg pics) which have got links to them. like http://xya.com/picx/jkl.jpg (just an eg) now, that can be downloaded.(eg) but for a picture linked like < img src= xyz.jpg > that can only be RENDERED. i.e. it is passively downloaded to the cache and is rendered. not actively so if reliance's networks find a request for an active download, it's blocked. gopinath billavara annu 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2004 Mmmmm.....So ACTIVE download is blocked by Reliance..(Thy ****ers). I have a funny feeling that, If i put an image as a Passive downloaded...ahem!. in a wap site. I can pull down the pants of the reliance people. Let me try this and see, how the jeepers works. The version in my mobile is Jbrowser Ver 1.0 now they have released Ver 2.0 which also supports animated gifs, jpg and WAP 2.0 as well. Here is the link http://www.jataayusoft.com/web/DbWAPHH.htm. Now since i have so much problem in my Ver 1.0. Can anyone give (if any) simple steps or ways to upgrade this to Ver 2.0. Using some PcSync or other will be fine.
