niket 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 but the midi should be atleast 4 kb not more than that or else it will say unable to save ringtone 15665[/snapback] May be True only for RD 2030. With RD 7230 larger files working fine. One of the best thing is Ringtone are louder compare to uploaded with bitpim.
Shabz 8 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 this works well with samsung n 191 but the tine should be in mmf format adn size upto 15kb as it supports more size I tried it and it is working very much fine
raccoon 53 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 Its still not working on my RD 2030. Like I said, I can send an MMF from Yahoo, and it reaches my phone with the Midi attached (its about 4 kb, from Rimweb); but im unable to save it as a ringtone! Any suggestions guys?! Utsav 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 MMF files are different from MIDI files. Mere renaming them to MIDI or DAT will not do. Try converting that MMF into Midi first and then try again.
raccoon 53 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 (edited) Duh?! Of course I know about midis. Its a midi file (*.mid) that im sending ...not just renaming something else!!! And the files are playing fine on my comp ...just not playing or getting saved as ringtones on my phone! File sizes are exactly 4.01 kB. Thanks anyway Turbasu... Utsav 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 (edited) Pls upload the file right here. We'll learn from experiments. Edited October 9, 2004 by turbasu
raccoon 53 Report post Posted October 9, 2004 Files are same as those I found on RIMweb itself ...as I couldn't find < 4 kB .mid files on the net. I tried with at least 3 - toxic.mid, myband.mid, imortal.mid, etc... I dont think posting them again here will be helpful, right?
Code 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2004 raccoon midi files should play fine and save fine on 2030 (I have sent several ppl and they have saved it fine). U have already made sure of the file size. But I guess U downloaded one of the .dat files (meant for uploading to 2030 using bitpim). It needs to be a uncompressed midi file.
iiii_pretender_iiii 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2004 Hi raccoon, Thing is dat files when renamed as .mid work on psmplayer. But these cannot be sent. Best way to ensure that its a midi file is, Open the tone in psm player. if it playes goto file -> createmidi and make sure the file limit is 4096 bytes. Save this file and send this. Lemme know if this works.
raccoon 53 Report post Posted October 10, 2004 Pretender, I discovered EXACTLY that last night, and it worked fine! Since it was real late, I didn't post... I'm trying again now ...guess it should work! Maybe we should now make an online collection of these =< 4096 kB Midi files that we make, as there are hardly any files of these size on the net. Also seems all midis dont make good ringtones as what sounds pretty good on the comp speakers dosent sound half as good on the RD 2030. Anyway, thanks a heap guys... Shabz 8 Report post Posted October 10, 2004 Most of the people sitting at *333 are fools as they take much time to understand the problem and the standard answer is it will be solved within 24 hrs and after 24 hrs the same reply with assurance Last time I had a problem the guy told he will transfer the call to his supervisor but it never got transferrred many time it was cut form their side and some times I had to cut as the wait was well over 45 minutes Sometimes they saay they cannot transfer to supervisor and sometimes they offer to transfer the call why is this and u can never rely on these customer care people Many a times you have to inform them about the particular scheme present in the market they themselves are not updated of the schemes
