Authenticating, Authorizing & Accounting

Recommended Posts

Lets Discuss on what happens behind the scenes on the RIM network (server side) when we make calls.

We will organize of conclude this in 3 Areas

1. Authenticating - How does RIM Servers know who I am etc.

2. Authorization - Should I be using the network ? Am I Allowed to Make Calls ?

3. Accounting - How is Billing Data Stored ? How is it that they can manage so many users at a time ? What sort of Database do they have ?

I was reading on RADIUS Accounting some time ago. Do they use it ?

Regards,

PCOGuy

hi - as far as identification goes each CDMA phone (or RUIM card as the case may be) has a ESN number stored on it. Reliance servers have a manifest of valid ESN numbers in its network and they use this to identify the phone.
