Honest 836 Report post Posted July 9, 2008 Nokia 8208 CDMA : Coming Soon High-end CDMA phones from Nokia are as rare as snowfall in the desert. Naturally we're delighted to come across this one -- meet the Nokia 8208, the newest CDMA (EV-DO/1Xrtt) based handset from the Finnish phone maker. From the looks of it, the 8208 bears an uncanny resemblance to its GSM-based cousin N96 and might just end up as the first phone from the Series 40 stable to sport a dual-slider design. And, there's a Chinese version as well, the 8208C. On the features front, the phone has a 3.0 mega pixels camera with flash and 6x digital zoom; a 2.2-inches screen that displays 16 million colors and sports a decent QVGA (240 x 320) resolution; 150MB internal memory that can be expanded up to 8GB; FM Radio; a dedicated music co-processor; etc. The phone supports BREW 3.1.5 for browsing and comes with a mini USB port and Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR. The phone promises 20 hours music playback on a full charge, and 11 days standby and 4 hours talk time. The only issue with the handset is regarding battery it is BL-4C that is 720 Mah. That is too less eventhought hey are telling 4 hrs battery life etc
savramesh 37 Report post Posted July 10, 2008 Who would've thought that Nokia's first Series 40 dual slider would be for CDMA networks? Well, not so fast -- these two aren't exactly Series 40, it seems. Nokia hasn't announced either the 3608 flip or 8208 dual slider officially, but official specs and pictures have popped up on an Espoo-owned domain that reveal the China-bound handsets to operate on CDMA 800 / 1900, and in the case of the 8208, we can say with certainty that there's EV-DO Rev. A on board. Anyway, as we were saying, Nokia lists both as having "Series 40 Nokia like UIs," with "like" being the key word there; we suspect these are either still being manufactured for Nokia by a third party, Series 40 can't rock CDMA in its current incarnation, or a little bit of both. Trust us, though, Nokia -- that doesn't mean you shouldn't take these cute little guys global.
Honest 836 Report post Posted July 10, 2008 The only issue with the handset is regarding battery it is BL-4C that is 720 Mah. That is too less eventhought hey are telling 4 hrs battery life etc ^^^ But my dear friend, it is not statged above in the specifications that the capacity of the battery is 720 Mah. It should be much more than that. In specifications it shows TBC as battery capacity. But I'm not sure for what TBC stands for. Regards.
Sadikk 301 Report post Posted July 10, 2008 Everything is the rumor as of now. I wonder why nokia choose 8000 series for CDMA for the first time. 8K series is always for premium handsets from them. I doubt this one.

KumaarShah 143 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 ^^^ It is Series 40 only, but I wonder why Nokia is still churning out S40 for CDMA (and yet as Sadik has stated above - 8 series is for premium editions only) when they have bought out Symbian fully already. It may be rumours only as yet. Or maybe a 3MP camera may make it premium edition???

situ1962 21 Report post Posted September 26, 2008 As nokia has bought out symbian and also they have come to an agreement with qualcom, they should bring out some truely premium handsets based on series 60 and above.instead they are coming out with the same s40 phones which are not even at par with their gsm counterparts.perhaps they want to exit from cdma segment.
