1. configure both computers to be in the same domain... viz workgroup or home or anysuch group u choose. restart the computer

2. turn on file and printer sharing on both

3. set the desired drive or folders as shares

4. check in network neighborhood... your shared folders or drives should be visible...

5. to access you might have to use the windows login and password to the pc...

Do I need to enter any IP, Gateway, DNS or Obtain Automatically?

I have tried with Obtain Automatically, But whenever I plug the crossover cable to both PCs, My LAN on both computer get connected then get disconnected in next second then again get connected.

What is this problem? I have already checked cable, Tried 5-6 cables but all in vain.

Assign one PC with an IP address of 192.198.0.1 and assign the second PC with an IP address of 192.198.0.2

Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 for both.

Use a common workgroup name of 15 characters or less as mentioned by Dj

Restart PCs and thats it.

Now test the network by pinging from both PCs. eg.: ping 192.198.0.2 (from the first PC)

Make sure that you have disabled your firewall (or manually allow the connection in the firewall settings)

I tried all this..but no success.

When I plugged in a Crossover cable to both PCs, Then The Lan gets connected at 1 Gbps, then gets disconnected at very next second, then again gets connected and then again gets disconnected..

This problem is in both PCs.

Can anyone tell me what is the problem?
