srk006 21 Report post Posted July 16, 2008 Hi to all I have noticed that all the telecom operators asking their customers to submit address/identity proofs while converting their existing connection from postpaid to prepaid and also vice-versa. Is it actually necessary? Since the person is already their customer(and has under-went verification), why ask them to submit these details again. Why duplicate the details of the person again. Won't it be a concern for the customer that the company holds many copies of their documents and can be subjected to misuse of these documents? At least I am bothered with this practice. What are your opinion, guys?
Himanshu Singh 19 Report post Posted July 24, 2008 From prepaid to post paid is understandable as the bill needs to be sent to an address. The other way is out of my mind.
srk006 21 Report post Posted July 24, 2008 ^^ Exactly!! But still they insist on submitting all the documents and photo again. Stupid Telcos!!
rbpyogesh 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2008 This is what i felt too Migrating from PREPAID to POSTPAID means we should submit the Documents but while moving from POST to PRE I dont understand why we should the documents And More Over i dont understand why they collect fees for Migrations If the subscriber is less than 6 months they should pay 500 and if he is customer for more than that then he needs to pay 300,This is what they told me when i wanted to convert my Net connect plan to prepaid I feel it should be free at least for the first time
raccoon 53 Report post Posted July 24, 2008 Not absolutely sure... but hasn't TRAI prohibited operators for charging for such migrations???
Honest 836 Report post Posted July 24, 2008 ^^^ My dear friend, TRAI had only recommended operators not to charge for migrations but no operator follows the rule. As their is only recommendation from TRAI but no confirm prohibition for the same. Regards.
srk006 21 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 That's the biggest failure of TRAI. It just recommends!! It never forces a law on these telcos.
rbpyogesh 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 ^^^^^ Exactly,Not only in Telecom dept. in most cases TRAI or even TDSAT only recomends IF it implements those rules Then i am sure we can enjoy India's IT
Honest 836 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 ^^^ Very correct my dear friends, whats the need of the authority which most of the times only recommends and not implement. Actually, TRAI should come with strict rules to be implemented on all operators. Regards.
vmsanghrajka 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2008 (edited) Customer Verification is a compulsory procedure mandated by Govt. Of India and all telecom operators are bound to follow this procedure strictly due to increased security concerns (read: terrorism).. Or else they might have to pay hefty fine if otherwise.. srk006 21 Report post Posted July 28, 2008 ^^ The question is not of verification. We all understand its very essential for our own safety. The question is what is the need for re-verification!
@mitJ@in 256 Report post Posted July 28, 2008 In Reliance, For Migration from Pre to Post - CAF, ID Proof, Address Proof, Photo is required. And it is logical too, They have to send a Bill to that address. As in case of Prepaid, Operators dont care too much about the addresses and other info of customers they just complete the formality of TRAI, but in Postpaid, they need all details as they have to collect there money. Post to Pre - No CAF, Proofs, Photos are required, As the account number remains same. Only a written request is required. May require ID proofs for validation, but not required to send it with CAF. srk006 21 Report post Posted July 29, 2008 In Reliance, For Migration from........... Post to Pre - No CAF, Proofs, Photos are required, As the account number remains same. Only a written request is required. May require ID proofs for validation, but not required to send it with CAF. That's nice of Reliance. But these stupid guys at Vodafone just don't understand and keep on insisting a new prepaid customer form+id/address proof+photo+a migration request - They say its akin to taking a new connection!
