Infocomm Allies With Mci

Recommended Posts

On July 27, 2004, Infocomm launched India's first MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) global Virtual Private Network (VPN) service in association with Ashburn, Virginia (USA) based communications giant MCI. This heralds a new era for Infocomm, as it can now offer its customers seamless global VPN connections through MCI's expansive network.

The strategic alliance will considerably enhance Infocomm's ability to address the growing demand for a single, converged and secure international connectivity solution. Under the agreement, MCI is installing MPLS network nodes in three cities (New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore). It will help MCI to deliver uninterrupted access to its global Private IP Network throughout India.

Speaking on the occasion, B D Khurana, Group President, Reliance Infocomm said, “This partnership will extend India's infocom reach across the world, enabling Indian Trans-national Corporations to get the benefit of end-to-end VPN connectivity for their businesses between India and the world. It will also benefit MCI by opening up India's expanding market to its global customers, providing acess to one of the fastest growing economies in the world.”

Founded in 1968, MCI (formerly Worldcom) is a leader in business and residential communications services. With more than 100,000 route miles of wholly owned and operated global network, including terrestrial and undersea cable, the MCI Internet backbone operates at speeds that are the fastest available in today's market. MCI also has more than 130 data centers in 22 countries spanning five continents. The Company manages one of the world's largest communications network systems, serving corporate houses, government clients, as well as consumers, in more than 200 countries.
