Chirag 5 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 MTNL To Issue 2m-line GSM Tender Next Month July 27, 2004 Telecomdirectnews.com State-owned Mumbai and New Delhi operator MTNL has announced that it will issue a tender for a further 2m GSM lines next month. One million lines will be installed in Mumbai, with the rest in the New Delhi circle. Significance: MTNL entered into a programme of network expansion at the beginning of its current financial year - April 2004. By January 2005, it will have completed the roll-out of 800,000 new GSM lines across Delhi and Mumbai. Motorola has been awarded the network expansion project, which will see 400,000 lines rolled out in both Delhi and Mumbai. The vendor will also be upgrading MTNL's network with GPRS technology.
