krispuniq 3 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 (edited) I am planning to upgrade my all time companion - Nokia 6275 to a new windows mobile and I am looking at HTC.. My budget - Max 17000rs. After going through this forum topics, I believe HTC is a good brand to chose in windows mobile series. I was earlier interested in getting myself HTC P3000, just because S720 was out of my budget. But Now, the options like HTC Touch and PPC 6800 are exciting. before considering these mobiles, I want to understand a few things. 1. In the process of getting these work for my RUIM Card, Will I be possibly screwing up the mobile and waste my money put on it?? 2. Between HTC Touch and 6800, i am more towards Touch, but i see many ppl getting 6800 here.. any reason?? 3. Is there any change in the battery cover that i shud make to accomodate the RIM card holder and soldering setup?? Does it harm the looks or form factor? 4. Is getting HTC P3000 a good option ?? I am looking at Touch because I want tht more battery backup and GPS on the mobile. Please guide me 5. What might be the problems/issues that I can run into trying to make HTC Touch work for me with RIM. ?? will it be a serious loss ?? I heard ppl get SMS late on their HTCs .. is it true? My Usage: 1. Good SMS usage, I am on DAPO Offer 2. Receive about 8 calls/day excluding the credit card calls 3. use Rworld occasionally 4. Use NGPay application for ticket booking 5. charge battery on end of 3rd day Any suggestions are welcome. Sadik Bhai, Please help me in deciding this and also getting myself a new mobile in a hassle free way. I would appreciate any help from all the members here.. will be grateful to u guys !! please help Edited July 25, 2008 by krispuniq

Please guide me Yes, Official Windows Mobile 6 Version of Reliance. Well, I don't know much about P3000. But if ur considering between PPC6900 or PPC6800, then GO WITH PPC6800. Since it has full QWERTY keyboard and Wi-fi. Things that PPC6900 doesn't have Both has GPS though...(if you tinker with it a bit offcourse)...

In the process of getting these work for my RUIM Card, Will I be possibly screwing up the mobile and waste my money put on it?? No, U dont have to make it compatible with RUIM. u can use it without RUIM. 2. Between HTC Touch and 6800, i am more towards Touch, but i see many ppl getting 6800 here.. any reason?? Its with WiFi, QWERTY Keyboard, more user friendly than TOUCH. One really mean machine. 3. Is there any change in the battery cover that i shud make to accomodate the RIM card holder and soldering setup?? Does it harm the looks or form factor? RIM card holder is risky steps to do, and also it reduces ur life of phone. Why u want to try HARDWARE solution when SOFTWARE solution is available. 4. Is getting HTC P3000 a good option ?? I am looking at Touch because I want tht more battery backup and GPS on the mobile. Please guide me P3000 is Outdated handset, they are dumping junk stocks in india, that to in high rate. WASTE OF MONEY 5. What might be the problems/issues that I can run into trying to make HTC Touch work for me with RIM. ?? will it be a serious loss ?? Nothing. dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted July 26, 2008 Dont be confused! HTC 6800 is any day better than 6900, though some of my friends using it will disagree (Hi, Anupe). Its form factor is quite slim from the earlier iteration of 6700. It has a 1500maH battery which is the strongest in the market today (BTW Nokia E90 has a 1500maH battery) and easily lasts 2 full days with heavy usage and upto 3 days with your kind of usage. You will be guided by forum members to upload software changes to make it operational with Reliance. You just have to be slightly computer savvy (otherwise no use purchasing this phone). Newer ROMs are updated frequently and it is up to you to decide which one you like - a fully loaded one or a faster but slightly less empowered one. My advise GO FOR 6800 (I have 2)... rajat8676 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2008 I have both 6800 and 6900. And Mogul is better anytime than 6800. It has got wifi, full qwerty slide-out key board, more buttons for convenience of use and of course, looks more manly. The Touch is a bit femine in looks, so I have given it to my wifey (Hope I dont incur the wrath of Touch owners)
harpreetsingh.pune 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2008 I think you should take the original one from reliance. i bought one 6800 from Sadik and it has been giving me issues of network ever since. Everything else works except the phone. Cant receive any calls inside any building. tried it on both tata and reliance with same result. Tried upgrading the radio rom etc but of no use. 16k wasted... Atleast in case the one from reliance will have a proper service and warranty etc. Hope this info helps... tanveer 59 Report post Posted July 27, 2008 cant see how the handset can have network issues. But then it is your individual decision. I have bought two hadsets from him and apart from delayed responses and deliveries, I havent had any problems.

sunny1974 1 Report post Posted July 28, 2008 the difference is touch has a double ram 128 compared to 64 of 6800.. thats the main tradeoff.. if u want to seriously use gps or 2-3 programs together.. ram is the thing.. otherwise ull have hangups and will have to reboot often to free up ram.. most working roms of ppc6700 or 6800 leave around 15-20mb maximum free for u to run ur programs. compared to 50-60 plus for touch.. i doubt if u can use maps or gps along with the phone or surfing or a couple of more applications.. but then u rarely need these applications together. the good thing about 6900 is the keyboard if u msg lots.. and the wifi.. if u dont have a data plan and dont want to spend money on one.. u can use the wifi in 6800 anywhere at a hot spot.. or even if u travel abroad.. u will be stuck with a useless touch without wifi.. the touch also doesnt have a flash.. which i use lots like a torch in the car or to look for dropped things or keys at times..its there on the 6700 and 6800 .. i have been using a 6700 bought from sadik for over a year now.. no complaints.. apart from that its very bulky. the only problems i have with it are ram issues.. so u have to make up ur mind depending on what u use.. if this cdma touch had wifi like its gsm counterpart i wud surely have gone for it. because reliance seems to be charging higher n higher for data.. and if u cant use it for data. then a ppc is totally useless.. might as well take a 777rs ph. if u dont havea plan or its to expensive atleast u ll have wifi which can work anywhere for free.. coffee shops, offices, malls. airports.. and abroad ..soon most places will have wifi.it ll work even if ur phone is out of coverage. 6800 users please correct me if the ram is better on it compared to 6700.. dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted July 28, 2008 @harpreet Maybe you have some activation issues or you have not followed all the steps properly that is why 6800 is giving you problem. I have 2 6800 which I am using and no network issues at all. There were some at one instance and it turned out to be a Reliance issue. I was having problem directly on the 6800 as well as when I put that number's RUIM in some other mobile. That is why I was able to identify that it was a Reliance network problem with my particular phone ONLY. My other RUIM phones were working fine. So I complained persistently and spoke to their Network Department (available only between 10am-5pm) and they reset my number or something and the issue was sorted out. So try using your RUIM on some other phone and if that doesnt work fine then complain to Reliance. However if it works fine then try reprogramming your Mogul from scratch and most probably your problem will be sorted out. Because I have NEVER TILL DATE HEARD OF A FAULTY 6800 from SADIK. We are here to help, in any case...

harpreetsingh.pune 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2008 (edited) Tanks a lot for offering your help... I dont think it is a reliance/tata issue since my whole family has tata (4 tata phones) and we have 2 other reliance nos at home... I can make calls but the network is very very wea on the Mogul...So the problem is in the hardware/software of phone. I have tried all the steps in the dummies guide and even upgrading rom, prl , namfiles etc but of no avail @harpreetMaybe you have some activation issues or you have not followed all the steps properly that is why 6800 is giving you problem.
