Serial blasts in Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD: Terror struck Gujarat when 17 serial blasts ripped across the city on Saturday evening leaving 15 killed and 30 injured sending a wave of panic.

The synchronised explosions in the space of 90 minutes in the eastern and western areas after the first blast hit Maninagar at 6.45 pm occurred in 13 places. There were two blasts each in Maninagar--the constituency of Chief Minister Narendra Modi--and in Sarkej targeting a state transport CNG bus and Sangam theatre.

Significantly two hospitals were also the target of attack. An NSG team has been rushed to Ahmedabad.

The low-intensity explosions occurred at eight areas of Maninagar, Isanpur, Narol circle, Bapunagar, Hatkeshwar and Sarangpur bridge, Sarkej and Odhav and created a wave of panic.

There were two blasts in Maninagar and the first blast occurred in this area at 6.45 PM. The second blast here occurred near LG hospital. Maninagar is the constituency of Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

The Ahmedabad blasts came a day after the multiple explosions in Bangalore in which two persons were killed. The mobile network in the area has completely collapsed.

Police said at least two had died and 25 injured, some of them seriously, in the blasts. The injured have been rushed to civil hospital and LG hospital.

Union Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal said in New Delhi there were eight blasts. Unconfirmed reports said there were 13 blasts.

The explosion in the sensitive Sarkej area occurred in a CNG bus.

Some of the bombs were believed to have been placed in cycles eerily similar to the Jaipur blasts on May 13 in which 65 persons died. A couple of bombs were reported to have been placed in tiffin boxes in a modus operandi similar to the explosions outside a Lucknow court last year.

President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh condemned the blasts and appealed for calm.

Mangled remains of a bus, cycles, motorcycles and auto along with splattered blood was all that was left after nearly a dozen serial bomb blasts ripped through the city of Ahmedabad.

Complete panic spread as people ran for their lives almost leading to a stampede in the areas where the blasts occurred. One body lay on the road waiting for quick removal by police who had descended on the scene trying to keep away curious onlookers and vehicles.

What lay right in the middle of one of the roads was a state government CNG bus ripped through from the middle as one of the blast had taken place in it. The outer body of the bus was completely shattered even as surprisingly most of the seats remained intact including the CNG tank.

Blood was seen splattered inside the bus and near the foot board. Muslims along with Hindus could be seen rushing injured persons to the ambulances.

The scene outside civil hospital was just short of a riot with people thronging the hospital even as ambulances with sirens were seen driving right between them.

"There is heavy traffic jams in areas around Mani Nagar, the CM's constituency where one of the blasts took place Number of ambulances are also seen zipping around," said Udit, a city resident.

Forensic personnel could be seen scurrying through the blasts scenes even as policemen tried to maintain a cordon.

It was perhaps most inhuman attack. AFAIK no terrorist attack on hospitals any where in the world.

i just cant understand who is behind these attacks and why our government is not able to stop these kind of attacks.

is there any big conspiracy going on?

I notice last 3 blast is in states where BJP is ruling.

it was peaceful till now and now its started again as elections coming and Nuke deal completed.

I demand that this conspiracy should be unearth & to its very urgent basis it should bring to our people & the perpetrators of such heinous crime to should be dealt with

Conspiracy is to destabilize India. Because all knows India is the most devided country in the world.

Many of our rimweb member may not agree with me but I know people who works for UNO or their various agencies and they are part of wider conspiracy.

For example, right now US is pursuing matter with many governments of third world including India, to implement "THEIR" medical policies. Their means opened up insurance sector, drug patents and very very expensive medical treatment.

I can share quite lot of information logically but I can not do it here because political discussion is not allowed. (Here too I dont know reason why most people are afraid to discuss issue which decide their course of life.)

Also dont go on media theory of BJP states. It will or may happen any where. Only thing is media is paid hefty by anti nationals.

India's security has become a joke. Terrorists strike at the place they choose and at the time of their will. This is absolutely horrendous. Mumbai, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Bangalore... Today, bombs were found at Surat. And the most horrific part is it is not one or two bombs... it is a series of so many bombs. They are destroying our cities one by one.

Its high time India brings POTA back and nip the terror in the bud.
