And according to those results, it outpaces Chrome, reports Cnet. At the Chrome launch, Google showed performance results of the browser using its collection of 5 JavaScript benchmarks and V8 - Chrome's JavaScript engine. To counter this, Mozilla, a competitor to Google in the Internet browser space has come up with a different test called SunSpider. SunSpider shows that the forthcoming Firefox 3.1, which uses a JavaScript acceleration technology called TraceMonkey, is faster than Chrome for JavaScript programs. It was 28% faster than Chrome on Windows XP and 16% faster on Vista. More Chrome News: EULA Controversy While most of us were busy checking out the features and design of Google's newest baby, folks at Ars Technica took a casual look at the EULA (End User License Agreement), since Google has been known to get into trouble with some of its shaky EULA terms in the past. And what did they find? Section 11.1 "11.1: You retain copyright and any other rights that you already hold in Content that you submit, post or display on or through the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying the content, you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free and non-exclusive licence to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content that you submit, post or display on or through the Services. This license is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the Services and may be revoked for certain Services as defined in the Additional Terms of those Services." What this essentially meant was that Google would be free to do whatever they wanted to with the content that you 'process' through their browser. Mind you, this content includes your personal details and other stuff you really don't want to end up in the hands of a billion-dollar corporation. Having said that, the offensive bit was later taken off the EULA later. And, Rebecca Ward, Senior Product Counsel for Google Chrome confirmed this with the folks at Ars Technica that Google usually reuses the EULA as much as possible to keep things simple for the masses. This could result in some irrelevant clauses appearing in EULA, which does not really apply to the use of that product, which is what is believed to have caused this faux pas. Some features are really good .... Editing of web page using front page is not easy in mozila, so using MS. explorer. I am using MS explorer with Avast script blocker at present ... Because I have loaded Rimweb in Chrome and also from both IE7 and Firefox and it loads at least 20% faster in chrome. Could be first time loading into cache. try loading next time and then see the difference... Because Speed is the ONLY plus point with Chrome right now... Ya... rimweb.in loads real fast in Chrome. You won't feel like touching IE after using Chrome. I feel it loads a bit faster than even Opera... but then Opera has other things that I cant do without. An unofficial Google blog has posted some cool tips for the just-released Chrome. Some of these are extremely useful and are sure to enhance your web browsing experience. 1. Right click the forward or back button to check the list of sites you recently visited. 2. Chrome has a built-in basic converter for basic conversions. Just type in "7 feet in cms" and look what you get! 3. Press Ctrl+Shift+T to open the last closed tab. (Works for Firefox as well) 4. Click and drag the bottom right corner of a text box to increase the text area. 5. Right click, select Inspect Element to get details on resources used by elements in the web page. These include images and scripts loaded. 6. You can drag and drop an open tab to get a new window. 7. To search within a web site that supports Open Search, simply visit that site and enter the domain name again - which becomes a keyword in itself. Once you do that, you will see an option to press tab. Press tab and then enter your search query to execute your search! 8. Right click the address bar and select Edit search engines to change the default search engine. Depending on your location, Chrome also lists local search engines. Like Guruji in our case! Cool! 9. You can drag and drop a downloaded file directly from the browser to any folder or location of your choice. 10. Another interesting tip is to run a web page as an application. Let's assume you wish to run Google as a standalone application, separate from the browser. All you need to do is the following. Open Gmail in Chrome -> Go to New -> Select Create application shortcuts. You will get the option to create a shortcut for Gmail directly. You can save the shortcut to your desktop and directly access Google by clicking the Gmail icon from the desktop. This can happen for any web page - Twitter, Orkut or Facebook! I dont think this has anything to do with Chrome exclusively... it will work when you type this in the Google search engine... and since the URL bar in Chrome works as a search field too, it must obviously be displaying the results the Google search engine. Only think I am feeling lacking is an auto refresh/reload feature for the page. Is there some way to incorporate it into Chrome?
