Anupe 14 Report post Posted September 24, 2008 I signed up for a free (for now atleast) push mail client called SEVEN ( its in beta) and have configured my Gmail to it. It works perfectly fine, running it on Rel MobileWorld connection. As you need to have your net connection running constantly, using the Rel NetConnect settings would work out to be too expensive. I have been testing the service since this evening and its working like a dream! You can also configure yahoo, hotmail accounts etc, though I havent tried those. As long as you keep the headers download limit to 10-20 kb, you will not be charged too much by reliance as you will not be downloading attachments by default. But in case you need to download the attachments, then selectively those mails can be opened and the attachments can be downloaded. So far I have noticed that its working flawlessly. I get an alert on my phone within 10 seconds of the mail showing up in my gmail inbox. I have also configured two other business mail accounts of mine which are running from the google apps page and they're working perfectly fine as well. Unlike emoze, your computer need not be kept on, for you to get your push mail client to work. If any of you chaps want to give it a try, you will have to sign up first before you can download the beta cab. Arun 795 Report post Posted September 24, 2008 I had once tried their client for Symbian 60 for my Nokia N82, but had problems configuring it for my POP/SMTP server. I will check it out on my HTC Mogul soon. Thanks for the review!
Anupe 14 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 Updating after 16 hours of usage: The software goes into power saver mode and shuts down when the Phone goes to "sleep" mode. I have tried to overcome this issue by unchecking the option of letting the program shut down when battery power is less than 20%. I know my battery is not low, but the software interprets the phone's sleep mode as being low on battery and seems to trigger the software to shut down. Unchecking the power saver option in the software seems to fix it. I will update later today on my results. PS: Seems to working fine on the Touch. If anybody has it installed on the Mogul please post your opinions as well

Anupe 14 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 Update: After running it for the entire working day today, I have not missed a single mail on my phone so far. All being pushed thru to my phone real time. Response time between mail delivery in actual email client and on the phone is near perfect, varying between 5-10 seconds. Also did a test mail between myself and our fellow member PK Dagaji and we were able to get good real time responses. Would like to know how the performace will be like on other phone versions as well with regard to mail alert response and whether it is slowing down your phone, etc. If this program works as good as it actually does right now, I dont think there will be another push mail client to beat it. Anupe 14 Report post Posted September 30, 2008 The servers aren't working up to par as yet after the company moved their office last weekend. Most of the email clients are back online but service quality isn't still up to par like last week as far as pushing mail is concerned. I will update here as soon as I notice improvement and normalcy in their service @ Dhiraj: Gmail is working but its not pushing mail real time as yet. They'll probably fix it over the next day or so. I'll let you know.
mobsac 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2008 Thanks for the link Anupe. I have tried various such services to no avail.I have also registered with seven and have got it running on my phone. The gmail mailbox was configured right, and I got my mails on the phone(headers). I will monitor the GPRS usage though for today and see how well it goes. Anupe 14 Report post Posted October 1, 2008 (edited) Thanks for the link Anupe.I have tried various such services to no avail.I have also registered with seven and have got it running on my phone. The gmail mailbox was configured right, and I got my mails on the phone(headers). I will monitor the GPRS usage though for today and see how well it goes. The push service is not upto par at the moment as they had migrated their severs to a new office location. Things should be fine in a couple of days though. I'll update here once everything is working normally again. Edited October 1, 2008 by Anupe
