Help Needed In Selecting A Handset For Accessing Email On Handset

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I need to access my business emails (gmail pop account) on my handset when I am out travelling. I do not want to carry a laptop for want of weight and pathetic internet options (as on date) for accessing emails on laptop. Can somebody help me out in selecting either a Blackberry service or alternatively a handset where I can access emails on handset and reply to them. I have heard that while accessing emails on blackberry the emails will show both on the handset as well as my desktop (microsoft Outlook) while if I go for a push mail facility then no sooner do I press "Send and Receive" on Outlook the emails on my handset will go away.

Pls help. by the way my current service provider is vodafone.

Regards

Kapil

Any BlackBerry will suit you best since email seems to be the only priority for you.

I will say bb is good only if your business demand immediate receipt and immediate reply.

If your priority is to check mail periodically than ppc and palm are two options.

Using Imap you can keep laptop and handset synchronized.

If you are looking at value for money palm is the best. Wm is contemporary and bb is expensive style.

i second to kshah ......if ur buisness demnads immeddiate retrieval n reply to your emails then opt for bb service

what i want to say here is their no need to purchase a blackberry for bb servicce there r a lot of handsets which can give you bb service......vodafone provides you with bb service.u can opt for nokia e series devices( n71 doesnt support bb service) which r much better overall than blackberry n give you other features also besides buisness features.

also there r a lot of devices from nokia that support bb service u can google it

also u can go with newer e series devices like e71 or e66 they come with nokia's email services which also works good for gmail

also vodafone provides you with their own email services through seven .they charge something like 250 a mnth rental n sum 30 mb of data free u can check with them on their plans .so in this case you can use any handset which supports imap protocol

so basically you first decide which emailing service wud you like to go with n then decide the handset

( i have an iphone i m using pull email .i have set my yahoo a/c to pull my emails every 15 mins so i get all my emails with attachments which i can view easily)

so iwould just suggest you that if email is your priority while buying a handset then you first choose an emailing service or whether u like pull emails and then select handset( then decide whether u like win mo or palm or some simpler device).

I would suggest you go for a Windows Mobile device like the Mogul for seamless email transfer, rather than Blackberry. Palm I would have recommended if your Phone Usage was your priority. I love the Palm over WM device anyday...

But in your particular case - for Internet and Email - Mogul on Windows Mobile 6.1 is still the best... and you have the additional advantage of using wi-fi wherever available.

@amit jain

Push mail is possible on Treo also. You can try "seven" with links posted by Anupe elsewhere. It is compatible with Treo 755p and best of all its FREE...

Now let me clarify, as far as email retrieval goes, Treo is even faster than Mogul. It is only when u need a better browsing experience like we get on Opera Mobile than it slightly lacks...
