Anil Ambani-promoted Reliance Communications has entered into a strategic alliance with IT giants Acer, Asus, HCL, Intel and Lenovo to offer

free laptops with internet connectivity to customers.

The scheme will enable customers to get free laptops powered by Intel's "Atom" with high-speed internet data card service of Reliance, RCom's president, Mahesh Prasad said on Tuesday.

"The growth of internet services in India is one of the key visions of Reliance Communications. The next phase of growth of internet penetration in the country is linked to the growth in PC and Laptop penetration," Prasad said.

Customers can avail the package with monthly installment as low as Rs 1,500 per month for two years, Prasad said.

In this scheme, One needs to take Platinum plan of Rs.1500 with lock in period of 2 years.

That's a very good idea.but the free one is the eepc only.if one wants a good laptop one has to pay extra.this is what reliance is.this is also business tactics.

Actually the Asus EEE PC 904 HA 160G is the free laptop. With specs like 8.9" screen, 1 GB ram, 160 GB hdd, Win XP HOME Genuine etc its a full flegged netbook. Only thing missing is the CD rom drive, but that would add to the bulk and weight.

I think this Asus netbook is retailing for 25,000/-. I think it is a very good deal... But if it is 701 then it is a 7" one with SSD and not hard drive... (basically useless)

Acer Aspire One Free With Reliance Net Connection

Reliance Infocomm subscribers who sign up for its two-year wireless Internet contract will now receive an Acer Aspire One Netbook bundled along with the purchase of a Reliance data card enabled net connection.

This comes at the cost of a monthly installment of Rs. 1500.

Reliance Communications, part of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, has entered into a strategic alliance with five computer hardware suppliers, to offer free laptops with internet connectivity to customers.

The computer companies are Intel Corp, Acer, Asus, HCL Infosystems and Lenovo.

The company claims that, the latest introduced scheme will enable customers to get free laptops powered by Intel's 'Atom' with high-speed internet data card service of Reliance.

However, under the scheme, customer has to pay monthly installment of Rs 1,500 for two years duration.

Reliance Communication is Country 's leading wireless internet service provider with over 10 lakh customers and access to 20,000 towns and 4.5 lakh villages in the country.
