Sony Ericsson Patents Touchscreen Communication?

Unique way to enhance the touchscreen experience

Sony Ericsson may be working on a new technology to use touch input to transfer information from one device to another. A recent patent application seems to point towards the probable use of RFID tags for information transfer.

While development on the mobile technology front is stagnating, with every possible feature addition already accomplished, Sony Ericsson may have found a unique way to enhance the touchscreen experience.

It is a well-known fact that other biggies, including Nokia, Google and Apple, are constantly striving to improve the touch UI -- with Apple already tasting immense success.

The actual use of the technology and the exact process involved is still unknown. However, prima facie, it seems to work on a touch-based gesture, which can be sent from one device to another, with a wait for a response from the other device.

The plans also reveal the framework of a probable "paid service," through which the user could download a product on to one device - but will be actually controlling the download from another device.

Yes, it does sound complicated.

That's not all. Sony Ericsson has taken into consideration multiple variables in this method of data transfer; parameters like the time to complete one request, speed of the finger movement, and even the size of the finger!
