I dont know enough about networking but such an idea could have many uses--- 1. file sharing 2. other information exchange 3. internet connectivity thru one point with everybody pitching in for the costs 4. other uses--- maybe you can help me find more? Wifi hardware is not very expensive i guess. what would be the range of such a wifi device? its possible with a usb wifi dongle or wifi card. dda 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2004 wifi enabling entire city would be toomuch expensive but you can surely setup an wifi hotspot in your building... all the people using the hotspot can share the cost of bandwith and hardware.... enabling an small building with 7 floor should require around 10 to 12 wireless accesspoint and each accesspoint would cost around 2500 to 3000.... and the cost of wireless client for each pc to be connected is extra that would add another 2000 per pc.... wifi is not cheap..... better option is to use switches and go for wired network in building so every body in the building can share files with each other.... hope this helps Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
