Interested users on Windows can download the Gmail gadget for their desktop. James Yun, the Developer Programs Engineer for Google Desktop, mentions in a blog post at Gmail blog that the gadget covers basic email functions - reading, searching, and sending messages. In this gadget, users can maximize their productivity with same keyboard shortcuts, can star messages, and also enjoy the contact auto-complete feature. This Gmail gadget works with the latest release of the Google Desktop for Windows version 5 or higher. However, certain features like email notification will make you dependent on Gmail Notifier.
