satyanjoy 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2008 I have two mobile phone - one gsm(airtel) , one cdma(reliance).i want to avoid some calls in certain duration in my gsm-airtel phone.i dont want to switch off the phone to avoid the calls since the callers should not know that i am directly avoiding.so if i can show that my phone is not reachable at time by jamming the phone (while not jamming my cdma phone simultanously). Is it possible by putting the phone in some kind of wrapper or container to block the radio wave ??? I specifically want to avoid the call from a specific local mobile number. Honest 836 Report post Posted December 5, 2008 Is it possible by putting the phone in some kind of wrapper or container to block the radio wave ??? LOL ! Its not possible to block the radio waves even if you go to universe. If your handset supports the Call Blacklist facility then you just Blacklist that number from your handset for particular period. The caller will hear the engage tone or the this message "The number you are trying to reach is unreachable......" Regards.
Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted December 5, 2008 on gsm phones if u use call block feature or blacklist facility using third party softwares or inbuilt clients .....the other person will hear the first ring and then the call will disconnect or the person will hear sumthin like the "the number u r calling doesnt wish to recive any calls"( especially on sony ericsson phones) on cdma when u use balcklist feature of the handset the other person hears the first ring and then he wud hear "the number is not reachable"... so in any case the other person will get a hint that he is been blacklisted ..... so the best feature is to use network provided call blocking facilities......i dont know abt airtel but vodafone provides call block faciliity....in that when a blacklisted number calls u he/she will hear sumthin like "the number u r trying to call is currently unavailale /not reachable" wihout hearing any ring ......u can check up with airtel cc if they also have a similar service
ami1 237 Report post Posted December 5, 2008 Here my experience with doing this over the years: On reliance I used to enable 'forward all calls' (by dialing the forward all calls code or using the menu on nokia 6265) without first configuring any forwarding number. The caller would then not hear any ring only the words 'i am sorry' & disconnect. Call fwd can be disabled by dialing the requisite code. On some older samsung/lg phones we could unscrew the antenna and put phone inside anti static wrapping bag which is usually provided with motherboards or such electronic things. If you want you can try searching for how to make a 'Faraday Cage' which doesn't allow any RF inside. Or you can search for do it yourself GSM Jammer circuit which is quite cheap if you don't want more than a few meter range. Now on Treo i just use the call block application. Harshal 11 Report post Posted December 5, 2008 What is the difference between jamming the cell fone vis-a-vis switching it off - from the "other caller" stand point? Do they hear a different message? If so how does the network know whether the fone is switched off or out of network once it is not able to communicate with the same?
Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted December 5, 2008 @harshal when a phone is switched off the other person wud hear switched off message ......but however on vodafone if the phone is switched off many times u will hear phone unavailable meaage when ur phone is jammed up ,,,,ur phone wont b ale to communicate with network towers so there will b a not reachable or unavailable message.... KumaarShah 143 Report post Posted December 5, 2008 On all mobile phones, you can just remove the battery while your mobile is still in ON condition and the caller will get an "Out of Coverage Area" or "Not Reachable". The SIM/RUIM card can be kept inserted in the phone all the while. But this method will be applicable for all callers and not selective callers. However this way your other RCOM mobile will keep working and you will not need any "jammer", in which case both your mobiles would go off... The method suggested by Amitabh Ranjan above also is quite innovative.
Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted December 5, 2008 well faraday cage as such is not for individual cell phones........and besdies constructing a faraday cage to just block unwanted calls is not practical and inconvinient.no one wud prefer doing that ........ it has a more broader usage ..... The SIM/RUIM card can be kept inserted in the phone all the while. Yes this method is quite convenient & works. However, after 10-15 min of phone not contacting the tower, most networks again starts giving 'mobile is switched off' message so you may need to put back battery and switch phone on for a min or so & then take out battery again. This service from Vodafone is known as CALL FILTER and its available at a monthly rental of Rs.99/-. And when any Blacklisted number tries to call me he / she hear the message as follows : English : "The number you are trying to reach does not wish to recieve your call at this moment, please try again later". Hindi : "Jis number se aap sampark karna chahte hain, woh iss samay aapse baat nahi karna chahta, kripya thodi der baad sampark kijiye".
