commonman 228 Report post Posted December 30, 2008 What is the price? and is it RUIM based?
ACS 130 Report post Posted December 31, 2008 Same price as others.. 2490 + activation. RUIM based? RComm data cards have never been RUIM based till now except in case when 'worked upon'.
prakashkadam 1 Report post Posted December 31, 2008 when the basic handsets are available for about Rs. 1000, why the hell these USB data cards are so pricey? dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted December 31, 2008 ^^^^ I agree totally, better to get a full fledge handset with a modem, then to get these overpriced dongles...
Honest 836 Report post Posted December 31, 2008 when the basic handsets are available for about Rs. 1000, why the hell these USB data cards are so pricey? ^^^ My dear friend, their are many other benefits of these Data Cards. Like they are small in size and don't need battery backup like mobile handsets. Data Cards get the power from USB itself. If anyone use mobile for net surfing then its for sure the battery of the handset will be gone within 6 months. Another thing is that, you cannot recieve or make calls if you are using mobile for surfing. Thats not the case with Data Cards.
Sadikk 301 Report post Posted January 1, 2009 They are looting on name of data card. I remember i use to import this USB pen drive like device for 16 USD from China, but it was RUIM based so wasnt getting R-Connect plans on them at that time. This is utter loot, as government also gave special discounts for data cards. BTW Honest Data card is way cheaper to manufacture as it only needs MODEM with Chipset, no speaker, microphone, ringer, vibrator, power board and so on. It should come for free now with post paid connection atleast now.
ACS 130 Report post Posted January 1, 2009 ^^^^I agree totally, better to get a full fledge handset with a modem, then to get these overpriced dongles... True.. but the good reliable handsets nowadays in Reliance starts from 9K onwards. i.e. Nokia 6275 Instead go for a LG 3500 + USB Data Card if it solves your purpose.. I guess Honest has even mentioned the pro's of having separate such instruments.. But yes.. Data Card prices should go down.
dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted January 1, 2009 (edited) My whole point was, as Sadikk pointed out that these dongles are overpriced; its ok about convenience but at this price, u can easily get a handset in 3K with modem and no need to spend 9K as u have pointed out; in fact one of the best handsets with a modem (which I still keep) was the original B&W LG (I forgot the model no.) which came for about 1-1.5K only... so why the hell are they charging so much just for a modem dongle... Even today LG 6330 is about 2.5K with modem, camera, etc... and its a pretty reliable piece, so why would u pay so much for a dongle... see http://www.rcom.co.in/webapp/Communication...set/mobile.jsp# Edited January 1, 2009 by dkaile

Maybe Info provided about price is also wrong in their Website.. Anybody aware of its current availability & price? It was a very good set.
