One minor issue, i can't get GPS enabled. device gps shows some lines only(BTW, I am using Reliance CDMA & RGSM SIM). though i have installed Google maps2.3.2 & application is showing in the menu, through my pc(Downloaded the file from: http://www.google.com/mobile/gmm/bes.html), yet when starting gps, it indicates either need for data plan or changing the setting of blackberry device. any help in the matter is welcome. nawalsingal 1 Report post Posted January 15, 2009 yes, U can use both connections, one at a time. other will show " not reachable". as already told, net connect is presently not working. Also, blackberry service will be not activated on handsets not purchased from reliance. However, BB can be activated on GSM conn through airtel/ vodafone. asheet 3 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 GPS works only in CDMA mode. For GPS to work in CDMA, u need to activate BIS plan else GPS won't work. GPS cannot work in GSM. Reason - chk sprint site. I am told that Tata & Reiance has locked teh GSM in 8830. So if u use Reliance or Tata OS, u may end up wth 8830 wout GSM. But ur answers are perfect. my dear freind i m not a spokesperson for anyone ...nor i advocate any one on the forum . i m responding to all querries since i have experience in troubleshooting these things ( i hope u remember the discussion v had in past over pm about your 8830 ) ...also does it matter if a queery refrred onto sadikk is replied by other members ??? also dont worry about gsm getting locked ...it wont get locked if u upgrade to reliance firmware or any other carrier firmware .... even if anyone who has brought 8830 from reliance or tata wants to unlock gsm can contact me ..it can be done easily with few clicks !!!!
