hritik123 4 Report post Posted January 22, 2009 Virgin Mobile launches 'New Thumb Rule' SMS offer 22 Jan 2009, 1949 hrs IST, IANS Print EMail Discuss Share Save Comment Text: BANGALORE: Mobile service provider Virgin Mobile on Thursday announced the India launch of 'New Thumb Rule', its latest SMS proposition that allows subscribers to send 100 national and 100 local SMSes free-of-cost daily after paying for the first three messages of each type. The subscribers do not have to avail of any special package to access the latest offer and they can send free SMSes to any network, Virgin Mobile chief executive M.A. Madhusudan told reporters here. "New Thumb Rule is a new revolutionary youth-focused proposition by making SMS the new voice of the youth. The youth love to send SMSes and we've almost made it free," Madhusudan said. The offer has been christened as New Thumb Rule as people use their thumb maximum times when they write and send SMSes, he explained. Virgin Mobile was launched nine months back in India with a goal of catering to the youth population. Currently, Virgin is present in around 7,400 cities across India. Asked about the company's India subscriber base, Madhusudan said they did not have a policy to disclose the number of subscribers. The unique selling proposal (USP) of Virgin Mobile is that users get paid for their incoming calls from any mobile service providers. For every one minute incoming call, the user gets credited with 10 paise. "Our main target is the young population of India that stands around 215 million currently. By 2010, we're expecting to have a revenue share of Rs.350 billion," Madhusudan said. hope reliance learns something from above
