dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted January 25, 2009 This model is an old one which is currently discontinued - http://www.sony-asia.com/product/dav-dz120.../dav-dz120k_ofw and it has got built in amplifier; i.e. there is no need for a separate amplifier as the DVD Player + Ampli is built into the unit... chandannasta 4 Report post Posted January 27, 2009 It did not have a built-in amplifier? dkaile says it has a built in amplifier. I do not know how to check that out.
dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted January 27, 2009 (edited) It has built in amplifier 100%; The speakers need to be connected to the respective connectors at the back of the DVD Player cum Amplifier Unit and thats it.... chandannasta 4 Report post Posted February 1, 2009 Can we connect Sony Dav-dz120k to a computer and play the songs or a movie. What I mean to say is suppose I insert the disc in my computer DVD drive and want to connect my Sony Dav-dz120k to my computer and play songs from my computer on to my Sony Dav-dz120k speakers and player. Will this work? Do you require any software or cable wire or switch to run this thing?
Arun 795 Report post Posted February 1, 2009 Ofcourse, use a "digital optical cable" if you want to get 5.1 channel sound.
dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted February 2, 2009 (edited) But your computer should be high end and have a optical out if you want to use 5.1 sound. The more common port available on almost all computers is the headphone out which can be used via a 3.5mm to RCA cable (White and Red Coaxial Wires one) to easily connect to one of the inputs into your Sony HT and get STEREO (2 channel) sound output. The video part is a little more complex and will require a either a Video Card on your computer or a motherboard with inbuilt Video/Digital/HDMI Outputs. The simplest solution is to install a video card having a RCA (Yellow Coaxial) Output and then use a single RCA (Yellow Coaxial Wire) Wire and connect that to one of your video inputs on the Sony HT. Hope that answers your question ... Edited February 2, 2009 by dkaile

Hope that answers your question ... Dkaile this is my mother board link which I have and it has an inbuilt video card. RCA cable I use it to connect to my TV and my hometheatre but that cable is too small. If you want me to use that and RCA (Yellow Coaxial Wire) then I want that atleast 6 to 7 metres long. From where can I buy that in the market. If 6 to 7 metres is not available then is there any way I can connect 2 RCA cable wires and joined it together. Is It possible? http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Mother...?ProductID=2758
Arun 795 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 That mother board has a digital optical cable out: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/ViewIm...roductImageBack (the black square one in the middle). Digital Optical cables will have signal strength drop if it is too long, you should be able to get 5 metres: http://cgi.ebay.in/Toslink-to-Toslink-Opti...%3A1|240%3A1318

Arun 795 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 As mentioned in the previous reply, do you see a similar slot in the HT? It will look identical since you can insert any end of the digital optical cable.
chandannasta 4 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 All right, but after I insert the disc in the computer DVd rom will it automatically start in the home theatre or do I need to do something some adjustments, and what is karoke?
Arun 795 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 Yes, you will have to change the audio device in your PC through the Sound option in Control Panel. Karaoke function allows you to sing through the mic when the player plays the music alone.
