Puneet 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2009 Most of the smart phones (Nokia/HTC/Samsung/SE) these days have good Pull Mail clients, that work very efficiently. Its the push mail which makes the difference. Currently, BB is the most reliable push mail service worldwide. Nokia is developing their push mail service, which is out of beta and I have been using it for more then 2 months now. But if you ask me Nokia still need to do a lot to make it as reliable as BB. Nokia (s60v3 and above) also support IMAP idle, which means you can ideally speaking use the inbuilt default messaging client as push mail service from a mail account supporting IMAP (eg Gamail). The choice is completely yours to make, on my side I would give Nokia a few months for their push mail service, as I do not like any of the other phones available on the market, and once Nokia has a reliable push mail service working, there is nothing stopping them. For corporate mail - I am using in built Mail for Exchange( v 2.7). It somehow does the job. But I would love to see HTML support in MfE. Seven - does not support HTML. kshah 452 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Yes, I too use nokia e71 and its good device. However I do not like built in mail client and using profimail. No side track, for push mail, one cheapest and best option is to have server support idle imap commands and connection. Google / Gmail support, yahoo don't. Once you connect to server and your mail client is on idle imap, as soon as mail is received on server, maximum in few seconds your mail box get notifications. SMS notifications are pain - orcourse its better than nothing. You can open hotmail account and forward all your mails to hotmail account to get SMS notifications. @dhiraj Try IMAP IDLE (I have become fan of it - its better and way cheaper than real push mail) and you do not disclose your login details to any one too. Download and see, in symbian client they have option of imap idle connect. There may be other clients too. On nokia they provided it on one version of rom, for e71 - unfortunately it does not seems to be there in latest rom. Ofcourse I never used built in client as I never liked it. I will do more research for you once I get time. These days I am bit busy and do not attend office due to sickness in my family. kshah 452 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 Nokia email service is inconsistent, it may be working good on yahoo but google it does not. my point is that if one wants near real time two way mail than imap idle is best and free solution. it superb on google and google aps account. Yahoo do not support imap idle. @ abhishek If you say you want your people to get notifications of mails by sms on simple phones, do all simple phones support mail? kshah 452 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 Seven is good free mail service (Real push mail AFAIK), but none as consistent as IMAP IDLE and most are in beta stage. Once upon a time Airtel was offering SOLUTION provided by SEVEN as EASY MAIL but they have stopped it. I dont know reason. At times mails are received in few minutes (Max 2) at times it takes hours or do not get at all - in push (When accessed using POP / IMAP its there in mail box. Again all are paid services or depends on proprietary clients. SOmehow I have a feeling that WM Pocket Outlook might be supporting IMAP IDLE thru registry tweaks. I will suggest you to try PROFIMAIL trial for 15 days and see performance, then if need be, its worth investing in. I am having licenced version and am very happy on my E71. Another problem in E71 is all mail clients , except PROFIMAIL try to integrate with built in MESSAGING client and application and it affects over all performance of messaging. Phone hangs, crashes, SMS sending fails etc. So for me PROFIMAIL is the only viable solution. But again, I am very happy with IMAP IDLE than real push mail. AS its cheap, it uses any available connection and its almost real time (Max 10 seconds time lag I have seen) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
