dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 Does IMAP IDLE have to be enabled in Gmail; and if yes, then how, as in Gmail settings, I can see POP and IMAP but nothing like IMAP IDLE...
Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 (edited) u need to enable imap in settings in gmail ... imap idle works by client sending idle commands to the server is waiting for instructions. When new mail arrives at the server, it sends a response to the idle command letting the client know that new mail has arrived. u can use flexmail ....its one of the best imap idle clients for windows mobile i had already posted a full version of flexmail in the request sofware for windows mobile section http://www.rimweb.in/forums/index.php?show...9144&st=465 Edited February 6, 2009 by mufaddal_km

abhims 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 friends, a lil question what is the cheapest phone that will help me, for this and as I said earlier GSM would also do fine if the cost is comparatively low
kshah 452 Report post Posted February 10, 2009 Has any one else tried IMAP IDLE? If not please try. Its worth trying. Dont spend on BB unless you really need highly secured, enterprise grade solution, where server in no case supports IMAP IDLE or you can not afford to change email ID. If any one has their own domain, than even switching to google as your mail host will save thousands of rupees. They give 7 GB X 100 mail accounts free. Mails sent are without advertisements. I dot like this nature of RIM WEB where people do not post their experience after trying out new things.

kshah 452 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 (edited) No reliable solution is available as it authenticate online. I bought full licence and its worth spending on profimail. I believe. Also SEVEN, EMOZE and NOKIA MESSAGING are still not as reliable and at times causes problem with native messaging (SMS) applications. Profimail is working absolutely flawless and its as reliable as BB, except that it works only with limited mail servers, which supports IMAP IDLE Edited February 19, 2009 by kshah
