city02 63 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 Infocomm Mobile has launched its services in the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh (HP) on September 3, 2004. The service will currently benefit subscribers in the cities of Shimla, Solan and Nalagarh.Infocomm has plans to expand its services to a total of 69 towns in HP in the next three to six months, covering districts like Bilaspur, Chamba, Hamirpur, Kangra, Kulu, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur, Solan and Una. Incidentally, HP will be the first state in Infocomm fold to be on the '93-series' with ten digit numbers. Addressing media persons, Circle CEO Himanshu Reliance India Kapania said, “The company has introduced a range of handsets, catering to the requirement of all types of users, starting from LG 2230 priced as low as at Rs 2499, to high end phones with color screen and camera phones. We have also introduced the recently launched feature-rich LG 5130 color handset at just Rs 4999. The new LG 5130 has unique features such as a speakerphone and Hindi interface to facilitate SMS in the national language. This is the only color handset available in India at such an affordable price point.” RIM’s launch in Himachal Pradesh comes close on the heels of a massive tariff reduction by the company and its advent augurs well for the subscribers in the state.
