Need Help To Choose Psp (playstation Portable)

Recommended Posts

My dear friends, I'm going to gift a PSP (Sony-Playstation Portable) to my son on his birthday, so need your help in choosing the best.

Their are only two models available from Sony as of now. The models are : PSPĀ® 3004 & PSPĀ® 2004.

Please guide me for which Model should I go ?

Also tell me about the games.

Does, PSP games easily available in the market ?

Is their any Internal Storage available in PSP's ?

Please provide your valuable comments / reviews with Pros and Cons of the same.

Regards.

GR8

go in for psp 2004 instead of psp 3004 ...there is not much of difference between two versions

about the games

yes they are available in market easily as UMDs ...( heera panna )

but beware the games are very costly ..good games are around 2k

to get storage u will need to purchase a memory card ( memory stick)

what i will advise u is just buy a psp slim with atleast 2 gb memory card ...

and after that just load a custom firmware on it ( hack it ) and download games from internet and play them on your memory card ( i can help u out with procedure ) ...otherwise u will have to shell out hell lot of money just to buy games

2GB will be very insufficient considering the games are space hungry. I would advise you to go for 4GB. My son is using one with a 4GB.

Original UMDs are no doubt expensive. You can ask the seller to load the games for you. All sellers of PSPs will definitley help you out with the hack as also the games. They may charge something like 100 to 200 bucks dep. on the game. The 4GB card should cost around Rs 1000 to Rs 1500 (I had paid about 1800 with 6 free games almost 8 months back) with some free games pre-loaded if you buy it from the PSP seller. I would advise you to buy it from the PSP seller as there are many incompatible cards in the market. I tried the cheaper way of installing the hack from other sources as also from the net, but it did not work properly and I eventually had to go back to the seller, although it was a bit expensive, (around 1000 bucks then)..

To my knowledge PSP 3004 is the latest edition with better graphics and also better features, if the pricing is not very high, go for it than 2004. For more info, I will have to consult my son who has better knowledge than me in this matter.

The 2004 has very low speaker volume (for music, maybe) Wifi is great in PSP. But tedious typing out website addresses or anything else.

Finally, just one word of caution - don't allow your child to play for very long on PSP. it is highly addictive.

well 2gb would be sufficient if want to load 1/2 games at a time ...

if u want to load more games then go for 4gb 0r 8gb ( in my opinion why spend more )

secondly the psp 3004 has same graphics as psp 2004 with just a few upgrades like mic and stuff ...

thridly dont pay a psp seller for hacking a psp or for games

u will get all games ( iso files ) on torrents for nothing ( i have more than 100 games )

and hacking can be done in just a minute with pandoras battery ..a psp seller would charge 1k for hacking ur psp .mind you pandoras battery is the only reliable way to hack a psp

i have hacked many psp"s ( used to charge for it 1k myself ) ..i have made a pandoras battery from my original psp ..i you want after u buy your psp ..lemme know u can use my pandoras battery and hack your psp

there are several tuts on the net on how to do it

but the most easiest /reliable is pandoras battery and magic stick way

u need to mod the battery of your psp to make it into pandoras battery

it could be done easily with old psp battery thru software methods but if u have psp slim battery then making it into pandoras battery will require u to solder and mod it

i have made a pandoras battery from my old psp ...and have magic stick created from my 1gb card .

all i need to do is put the magic stick in the psp and insert the pandoras battery and thats it ...rest all things are done on its own and in a minute u have a psp running custom firmware

i had pwned 2 psp slims running 3.91 firmware a few mnths back ....i have not used my psp or pandoras battery since then ......hope my psp is still working :Confuso:

Thanks my dear Sadik, Mufaddal & Kumaar Bhai for your valuable guidance.

I think I should go with the latest model 3004. As the difference between 2004 & 3004 is just Rs. 700-800 only.

But one thing I want to ask again is that, do you think that 2 GB or 4 GB memory stick is sufficient in now a days ?

My son is 12 years old and he play Games like GTA Sanandreas, GTA Vicecity, RAW-2, Counter Strike, etc. at my home PC. :)

So, do you guys still think that 4 GB could be sufficient for a young chap like him, who is already a Game Freak ?

Such games consumes a lot of space I think.

So what say my dear friends ?

Also tell, upto what maximum capacity of Memory Stick we can use with PSP.

Regards.

My son is 12 years old and he play Games like GTA Sanandreas, GTA Vicecity,

These are Adults games i think, keep him away from this.

always check the ratings before allow it to minors.

a capacity of umd is 1.8 gb ..so no psp game is more than 1.8 gb in size ...

whether 2gb/4gb depends on you how u want ...

Yes my dear friends, I know that these are Adult Games. But my son doesn't have any ADULT CHEATS for these games as of now.

And I too 100% agree as Mufaddal told above that these are the games which are very popular among such age group children now a days.

Anyways thanks for the suggestions my dear friends. Will purchase it wihtin 3-4 days and post the review here. :)

Regards.

That's one of the major flaws of SONY, i.e. we have to use their customised Memory Stick, which no other manufacturer uses; because I am a stickler for the more open ended SD card where in you can get a 8 GB SDHC card for the price at which the 4GB memory stick is available; With the latest PSP you can use memory sticks upto 16GB but their prices are quite prohibitive even now... My son uses the older model PSP with a 4GB memory stick with hundreds of games as it has been cracked...
