dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 (edited) Great day for India; It was truly an international film; I Hope, now it will drive sense into people like Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowarikar to start making Oscar deserving movies like Taare Zameen Par/Jodha Akbar/Lagaan in dual languages (english and hindi) because it is essential to have the movie made in english together with hindi, to showcase our TRUE talent to the world... Hats Off... Edited February 23, 2009 by dkaile
nawalsingal 1 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 Well, except for Oscars for ARR & Gulzar, i don't see any reason for this hype. The film shows every Indian in poor light. i personally hate the depiction of Indians as cruel & Americans as generous in the scene where tyres of car are stolen, driver of the car beats the boy black & blue. When the boy says-"This is real India", Americans give him 100 $ note & says "This is real America" Indeed a very distasteful remark, deliberately planted to demean Indians. . so , no cheers from me for this film. though 4 cheers for ARR & Gulzar Saheb. FEVIN-RAJ 61 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 but all above that .... The movie shows the bad face of indian slums to world ... reveals the indian's craziness towards the film heros also the director is trying to make europians are better than indians in humanity definitly .. i am proud of ARR and Resul on their talent... dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 what bad light man, it nowhere shows that europeans are better than us; though it does show the truth; today morning I was coming by train and saw hundreds of people doing potty by the railway tracks; isnt that our truth; then why to try to hide it and run away from that; we should take that as a lesson and inspire us to make the changes necessary in India to make it a world beating nation... Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 i dont know why many people are saying that they showed india to be very poor by showing slums and stuff which is not the case .... poeple who talk such kind of things shud go and see slums for themselves ...what they showed in the movie is very true and is reality of life of people living in slums where ther is no sanitation .... all in all i liked the movie , but i dont like the way news channels are hyping it
nawalsingal 1 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 I fully agree that we should face the reality & should work towards betterment of our country & should not run away when someone shows us mirror. But to show all indians as inhuman & americans/ europeans as kindest some how doesn't cut much ice with me. Those believening in this will do well to recall Abu Gharib & maybe use of nuclear weapons by americans as well.

savramesh 37 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 i heard from few that some scenes in movie shows bad of india and because of that they dont like the movie. i have not seen the movie, but what i feel is if you cannot accept the movie or accept the scenes where india is shown bad then it is the actual success of the film. it has made you to stand against the things which shows india is bad. now if u cannot even accept this in film then surely u dont want such things to happen in real life.. once such mentality comes in every indian then india will soon reach heights.. savramesh 37 Report post Posted March 5, 2009 Jai Ho the new political buzzword 'Jai Ho elections' is the new buzzword in town. The word has gained so much popularity that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took a rickshaw ride on Thursday to see Slumdog. And it is not just Nitish, every political party is vying to cash in. The Congress has bought the rights to the song Jai Ho. But the BJP, which has used the song in its campaigns, is not happy. "By buying this copyright, the Congress has divided artists on party lines. Anyone should be able to use the song. Jai Ho does not belong to any one, it belongs to the country," BJP campaign committee member Atul Shah said. This comes days after BJP leader Narendra Modi took a dig at the Congress, sarcastically giving them credit for the movie. But the Congress slammed the BJP instead. "The BJP are used to stealing. This is what they do," Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Hussain Dalvai said. While Congress and BJP squabble over the song, CPM candidate from Kolkata North constituency has grabbed Jai Ho as his election slogan. He said his voters have put up the banners across town, not he. And there can't be copyright violation over the words. Film music and songs have been used in several campaigns. But probably for the first time, it has created grounds for a political battle.
