Net Connect Charges In Bill

Recommended Posts

Dear All,

I had recently purchased HTC MOGUL 6800. The phone is fantastic. now the main shock which came to me when i received the Reliance Bill:-

which goes this way:-

post-19245-1235639956_thumb.jpg

now when i had purchased the handset, after that i tried to connect internet through it and it is working Fantastic. and i got this NET CONNECT CHARGES.

when i contacted Reliance Call center. they said that you can not activate netconnect on your mobile, its only for data card & USB modem.

But then i said that if it is not applicable for mobile then how come u have charged, they said that i might have connected it to laptop, but on that i said that i have used it through my HTC MOGUL.

now the things are really confusing. please help me, as i am going out of maharashtra from next week and i want to be mobile @ that time.

You must have used netconnect and forgot to disconnect; If not, then kindly note that in some roms u must disable any program that uses automatic update like Weather in HTC Home and make it manual; also some GPS programs also connect automatically to the net; make them manual also by going in their settings; because if they connect automatically without your knowledge and then u dont disconnect u will keep on getting charged @ 60p. per minute for Net Connect;

Also ensure to change your default connection from rel NetConnect to Rel MobileWorld with the UTS username so that u are charged per kb download and not time wise; that way even if u connect automatically and dont download anything u will not be charged...

Get GSM connection, where data is cheaper. Reliance is damn expensive for data.

well i have always been saying not to use netconnect access point to use net on your phone ....

the best is to use relmobile world where u will be charged as per kb of data ...in netconnect u r charged as per mins u r connected to net ...even if ur connection is not active ...still u will be charged for net connect unless u disconnect .

I think shifting permanently from Rel NetConnect to Rel Mobile World connection (without proxy) will solve your purpose and also u will be able to keep on whole day with a fraction of the charges that you have paid now; Read the Sprint original rom topic (link given in my signature) as to how to set Rel MobileWorld connection and the UTS username and password...

even on NetConnect charges are very less than u have paid, had u gone in for a proper plan - http://www.rcom.co.in/webapp/Communication...ffs_details.jsp

yes, u can; I donno why they are misguiding u; best is prepaid, wherein in 1099/- u get unlimited netconnect and 300 sms free also... but I dont think u will need that; try Rel MobileWorld with UTS username and password and use when needed only; for occasional browsing and not too much download, that is the best... only 5p/10kb.... and no time based... but disable proxy....

well just as i said previuosly also ur usage is just like mine ...

i use relmobile world....with uts password i dont have to suscribe to any plan ....

moreover i dont even disconnect my connection ...it goes dormant and then disconnects on its own ..plus no need to worry as u are charged as per data and not as per time ...

i get mails from three a/cs and my monthly usage doesnt go beyond 100 bucks ( i even use netconnect at times )

in my diamond, wehn i go to connections, i get 2 options

my isp

&

Reliance mobile world

when i tried connecting with MW, i got the same old message to buy their data plans blah blah

i called cc and they asked me to use my isp and make a new connection with my cell # w/o 0 as username and password.

and with that i cud connect to the net. Then i changed the user name n pass to UTS one since i m on DAPO and the internet is working perfectly.

now tell me whether I m using MW or netconnect ?

If u are using the UTS username and password then u are using Rel MobileWorld and not netconnect; enjoy... but do check and disable proxy so it does not take u to the RWorld wap site....

i m using uts username and password for relnetconnect as well ....

if u r using relnetconnect/relmobile world cabs both have uts username and password

now tell me whether I m using MW or netconnect ?

the best way to confirm this is to connect your phone to desktop and user internet sharing ....

if it connects then u r using net connect
