FEVIN-RAJ 61 Report post Posted March 2, 2009 Alcatel Launches Cheap Touchscreen Phones Alcatel might not ring a bell when it comes to cellphones. Nevertheless, the company does have a range of low-end, high volume handsets on sale that could do well with some publicity. The company has added two new handsets, the OT-707 and the OT-800, directed at the low-end segment, to its range of mobile phones. Now, if you were expected, plain-Jane, boring handsets that might not want to be caught dead with, you might as well take your thoughts back. This is because what Alcatel has on offer is one touch screen and one full QWERTY phone - both features usually spotted on higher end devices. The OT-707, Alcatel's first ever touch screen device is quite a looker and will leave most first time handlers impressed. On the features front, this one has a 2.3-inch TFT display, Dual band GSM/GPRS connectivity (900/1800 MHz), a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth with A2DP, 10MB of internal memory. Moreover, as mentioned earlier, this one's a touch screen and is expected to be priced at around the $120 (Rs. 6,233 approx.) mark. The other phone to be announced is the OT-800, which sports a full QWERTY keyboard with a QVGA display, 2megapixel camera and Triband connectivity. Oh and there is FM Radio with RDS as well. The OT-800 too will be priced around the $120 mark. There is no word as to when we can expect these devices to be on sale. http://www.techtree.com/India/News/Alcatel...-99616-893.html

Sadikk 301 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 @ Amit See Reliance is service providerthey dont sell handset they sell service +phone in whole package. and very low end users use them as secondary or call-only-GF phones. but for full fledge usage we need more than hardware now. we need more UI research then looks now. dont u think?? @ Honest alcatel might be good company, but their products are cheap and see they dont have thier own design even, the QWERTY thing is copied from MOTO. so many chinese OEMs doing same thing. if u r really good company make ur own design and UI and R&D facility. without this they will be making same thing over and over again. like so many indian watch OEM is making handsets now
