Code 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2004 Handsets may be locked to a given service provider. Further more we don't encourage the topic related to cloning here.

It can be done, but not by copying the EEPROM. All you need to do is change the CDMA settings. Listen, you can do any modification on your CDMA phone, including chaning Prl/Cdma settings even MIN/NAM. But you also need to change the ESN. Changing ESN illegal (maybe not for MIN and others ) . ESN changing is illegal in every country including India, neither you, nor the network providers like Reliance/Tata can change it. Changing MIN is not considered illegal in some countries, I am not really sure about India. ESN is a unique Id code provided by Handset manufacturer not network service provider. So, if you want to have a Tata handset on RIM, then until RIM enters the ESN on your handset into thier computers and gives you new NAM/MIN it is not possible legally. (PS: All this applies only to BREW based programming not SIM/RUIM based) Edited September 26, 2004 by Beetlebailey

When a Reliance Handset is accepted onto Garuda network, the ESN of the handset is registered by Garuda, a new MIN is given. This is not cloning.
Code 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2004 Well Ur right it isn't really cloning but kinda related topic as Reliance doesn't allow programming of other h/s into their network. So this can't be possible legally as of now.
