Code 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 That's intentional to make others know that a user has edited his post after a replay has already been made. E.g Else some one can post Nonsense and later delete it creating nuiscance ...
jusmail 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2004 Can all the forums be assigned the collapse/expand options so we could rearrange the forums we frequently visit to appear in the top of a list, and those that we have collapsed to appear at the bottom of the list? Arun 795 Report post Posted October 1, 2004 Got some good news & bad news about a feature in version 2.0.0 The good news first... you can view the Lo-fi version )http://www.rimweb.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php) of the forum in your WAP enabled handset ! The bad news... its not working on R-Surf, though its working fine in GSM WAP enabled handsets.
Vishal Gupta 4 Report post Posted October 1, 2004 Dear mods & admins! Is there any problem in attaching GIF files? I tried to attach a GIF image file in my post, it gave me following error: The total filespace required to upload all the attached files is greater than your per post or global limit. Please reduce the number of attachments or the size of the attachments. But the size of my GIF file was 14.2 KB. What's the problem?
iiii_pretender_iiii 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2004 Yes vishal, I think there are still some bugs or creases that need to be ironed out. The other day, when i clickd on"view new posts", was given the error about flood control. However, it was the first time i had clicked the link. There was not reason for that error to appear Upgrading a board is not at all a easy issue. It takes a while to get the things settled down and working perfectly. BTW Arun, Why is the top banner still not sorted out ? Doesnt give a feel-good expirience like this. Listen, If you need any help with this, drop me a message. Vishal Gupta 4 Report post Posted October 3, 2004 BTW Arun, Why is the top banner still not sorted out ?Doesnt give a feel-good expirience like this. Yah! I also wonder why the banner problem is not sorted out? Pls mods or admin do something for it.
Beetle 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2004 (edited) Global limit is new. What does that mean. Does it mean that the total upload by any user put together is only 100kb??? Earlier it was 100Kb per post, no such global limit. Btw.. why not increase the global limit to a few mb? Now that Arun and Rimweb have gone comercial and with IPB 2 providing such an easy to use way to manage uploads, old unused uploads can be deleted to save space for arun. PS: I want this "EDITED by" removed, but I cant. Admins please go to the ACP and allow users to remove it. Thank you. BTW Arun, Why is the top banner still not sorted out ?Doesnt give a feel-good expirience like this. Yah! I also wonder why the banner problem is not sorted out? Pls mods or admin do something for it. 15067 IPB 2.0 has changed the default background. Rimweb.com uses the default IPB skin. rimweb.com banner created by Arun and co. was not created using transperancy, they used the color settings of the default skin of older version. The same banner is still being used for IPB 2.0, hence the difference. To solve it you have to create a new banner which will support skins. Simple. Vishal Gupta 4 Report post Posted October 3, 2004 Why there is no "Fast Reply" button in FLP forum? I've attached the screenshot. Is there some limitations for this button? Pls tell me.
Vishal Gupta 4 Report post Posted October 3, 2004 OH GOD!!!!! Same problem. I wanted to attach the screenshot, but same problem. The total filespace required to upload all the attached files is greater than your per post or global limit. Please reduce the number of attachments or the size of the attachments. What's that? Arun 795 Report post Posted October 3, 2004 I have doubled the global upload limit to 200 KB now ! Please try to delete old unwanted attachments from the Control Panel, as the upload folder is getting bigger. The banner will be fixed as soon as I get the 'code' from Code. "Fast Reply" button in FLP forum has been enabled now. Thank you for pointing it out. The "Edited by: membername" option was activated for members so that everyone can know whether a post was edited or not by the member. It will not be disabled. Finally, RIMweb may have gone 'commercial' , but I haven't got any real bucks in my hand yet as my account with Baazee is having some technical problems, got fed up of communicating with them as their Affiliate customer support is very slow. Beetle 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2004 About Upload Limit: Sure. But why the restriction of only 200Kb. Dude this is the age of Gbs Ya ya.. I know what Chiraag is going to say Ok.. I am cool. About EDIT line: Arun did you know that you can prevent an user from editing or deleting his post after say one hour of posting. If someone edits/deletes his post after 1 hour then that shows fickleness, not if he/she deletes/edits it within a few minutes. The weird thing is only moderators and Adminstrators can remove the edit line, this is quite disturbing, esp in a fourm like rimweb.com where the post ratio betn users and moderators is almost 1:1 There is a mod replying to every users post...!! The track would show that an user has edited his post umpteen no. of times while the replying mod has not...!! Are you trying to show that we users are fickle while moderators are mature and blah blah. I hope you get my point. EDIT by, it was allowed in the previous version, why the sudden change of mind.? Please re enable it. You can also disable delete post option. Fast reply could be set by the user himself, I had enabled mine.
Beetle 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2004 Finally, RIMweb may have gone 'commercial' ,15092 Ha ha.. Finally he admits it 'commercial' isn't the right word to use, dude And don't forget to just click the banner (the top baazee one) once in a while ! And if you own a land phone, check out the transparent dust cover cum carry case (bottom banner) and order one for yourself ! 12524 Ooh. Found this thread. Upload restrictions. Got the idea.
Vishal Gupta 4 Report post Posted October 3, 2004 Please try to delete old unwanted attachments from the Control Panel, as the upload folder is getting bigger. If we delete these attachments, then the posts in which we used them , will be useless. I mean if someone wants to d/l them, then nothing will happen cauz there'll be no file to be d/l. And what is the use of global limit? In recent version there was no global limit. anyone can attach any file upto 100 k. so why now there is a limit of 200k for total attachments. If i made some attachments of 200k then next time how will i upload other files. I have to delete my previous attachment to uplaod next one. Thats not good for a healthy forum! Fast reply could be set by the user himself, I had enabled mine. What's ur mean? I've "FAST REPLY" button in all forums, except FLP.
Chirag 5 Report post Posted October 4, 2004 Are you trying to show that we users are fickle while moderators are mature and blah blah. I hope you get my point. EDIT by, it was allowed in the previous version, why the sudden change of mind.? Please re enable it. You can also disable delete post option. 15098 We r sorry, but that option will not be removed. Moreover that option was there right from the beginning of rimweb.com!
Beetle 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2004 Chiraag That option might have been there from the begining of Rimweb, but there was an option for the user to either allow the edit line or not allow it. I used to use it..!!! Why the sudden change in policy on upgrading to IPB 2.0 I find it disgusting to see the edit line below my posts. It will affect the quality of the posts as I will refrain from altering it, even at the cost of quality. Two dramatic changes after upgrade, 1. Global upload limit. This is one crazy feature. Yuck. 2. EDIT line, earlier there was a small box which could be unticked and the edit line would not appear. Now there is not such option. This is revolting. If you do not know how to enable it, go the ACP and under Members/advanced members tick on allow user to remove EDIT by line This is freedom of expression we are talking here. Ok.. I rest my case and am not going to raise it again. Very sad, especially when there are alternatives About EDIT line: Arun did you know that you can prevent an user from editing or deleting his post after say one hour of posting. If someone edits/deletes his post after 1 hour then that shows fickleness, not if he/she deletes/edits it within a few minutes. Beetle 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2004 Just incase, this is the option on older version of IPB ACP. Note.. the REMOVE LEGEND OPTION.
Chirag 5 Report post Posted October 4, 2004 1. Global upload limit. This is one crazy feature. Yuck.2. EDIT line, earlier there was a small box which could be unticked and the edit line would not appear. Now there is not such option. This is revolting. 15138 Upload limits?? Give us ur Server. We'll set up GIGABYTES as limits, y talk abt MBs Anyways, we'll consider it once again..But its sure that it wont raise in huge multiples! So upload to FREE Servers like Geocities, Tripod, I6 etc... and post a link here! simple! EDIT line :: It wasn't and will not be an option for USERS to remove the EDIT LINE. I am dead sure abt this! Sorry to be this firm... But Beetle, these things will not be allowed.
Arun 795 Report post Posted October 6, 2004 The uploader folder is already big. Bigger upload folder will make the backing up process difficult for me too. And ofcourse, the server space consumed is another problem.
