Bsnl To Attract 7.5 Million Broadband Subscribers

As Internet penetration gets more stronger and is reaching out to more segments of society the biggest Public Sector Telecom Service Provider, BSNL is planning to attract more than 7.5 million broadband subscribers.

It plans to make an impact in tier II and tier III cities as well as the rural areas. The use of local languages on the Internet by search engines and social networking sites like Facebook is likely to provide a shot in the arm to the spread of Broadband services by BSNL.

Anil Jain, General manager, broadband, BSNL said “We are targeting 7.5 million broadband subscribers in the current fiscal, up from the 3.7 million in a bid to expand our market. We expect the demand from the small towns and cities to grow substantially. We are offering broadband services in rural areas at subsidised rates. To expand our coverage, BSNL plans to use vendors for offering bundled subscription”. Private service providers like Airtel, Reliance and Tata Indicom can expect a tough time
