Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) My Phone is the latest WinMo service by Microsoft allowing users to backup their phone files and personal info online. The service was launched back in February, but it's only now that it's finally opened to everyone with Windows Mobile devices without the bugging invitation procedure - all you need to access it is a Windows Live account. My Phone can perform daily backup of all data on your WinMo device - from the contacts to the multimedia content. There is a limit of course and it's 200MB of storage, which we can say is pretty enough for the critical info. The backup content can be accessed later online or can be used to restore your data to a new device if, for instance, you misplace yours. In the future, the service will even allow you to change your wallpaper, ringtone and some more basic settings directly through the web interface eliminating the need to dig in the phone's settings. Microsoft promise they'll continue the integration of My Phone with many Windows Live services such as Live's contacts, photos, calendar, etc. My Phone most probably will be integrated with the upcoming, but already became popular Windows 7 desktop OS, and will be available as a standard option when you connect a WinMo device. http://sn1-p3.myphone.microsoft.com/mkweb/Start.po?mkt=en-US Edited May 19, 2009 by mufaddal_km

djain1989 16 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 I have tried it out.. (sorry for not mentioning it earlier) Its quite easy and fast to setup. But the only con is it doesn't integrate with other mobile platforms.. Supports only Win mobile..
kshah 452 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 Good service. But end of the day fact is your mobile data is safest in PALM. Microsoft could have done it for desktop too. Same applies to SYMBIAN. neither of them can restore call data and sms, applications using sync application. Only palm can.
Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 But the only con is it doesn't integrate with other mobile platforms.. Supports only Win mobile.. if it doesnt work on other platforms u cant say its a con . this service is by microsoft and is meant for windows platform only . for symbian and other platforms there are online services like ovi available . BTW though syncing is easier with palm but its good to have cloud computing its always safest option to backup ur phone data online ....its secures ur data in case u loose ur phone ..loose backup files on desktop ..if something goes wrong with sync .( even at times syncing thru palm can go wrong and u can loose all ur data, it has happened with me and with other members as well ) i always prefer online backing up on all my phones . tanveer 59 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 It is a default feature in most of the builds of WinMo6.5. Never used it though I am on a 6.5 for over a month or more,
kshah 452 Report post Posted May 20, 2009 Yes, online back up is good and certainly desirable. But they do not restore your all data like apps, settings and other user system data.
niknam 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2009 it does not sync if u are already syncing to microsoft exchange server to google; thats a con; so u can sync only to either one of them not both; but u can sync your messages also, though no other folders except inbox, sent, drafts are recognised; also it syncs photos and music from mem card;
