kshah 452 Report post Posted May 26, 2009 VOIP settings on Nokia E71 and E 90 seems to be broken may be they do not want to alienate cellular operators as on 3G one can save lots of money using VOIP. I did settings for terrasip so they are true for them but I am sure one can follow same method for other SIP services too. 1. Download VOIP settings from nokia site 2. Install on your phone. 3. Create SIP settings. At Menu -> tools ->settins -> Connection -> SIP settings -> options -> New sip profile -> use default profile create profile as per your SIP service provider settings. They are available from them only. For terrasip check here 4. Create internet telephone settings At Menu -> tools ->settins -> internet tel -> option -> new profile, it will create profile on its onw. 4. Open SIP VOIP setting (application you installed) May be in tools 5. Click VOIP service -> Click option -> new profile -> select default profile it will create necessary profiles. You do not need to change any thing. 6. By default Nokia VOIP do not allow connection thru WCDMA if you are on 3G and has possibility of using VOIP over 3G network, you can enable at SIP VOIP settings -> VOIP services -> VOIP settings -> Profile Sttings -> Allow VOIP over WCDMA -> ON. Now you will be able to use VOIP over WCDMA also There are many other settings available but I dont think are important for people like us, they seems to be useful for geeks. Now toy use internet telephony do following 1. Menu -> communications -> Internet tel ->if you are on WiFi you will get to see wifi network -> Option -> connect to service 2. If wifi is not available, I have figured out work out like this. Connect some application which is using WCDMA access point. Once connected come to Menu -> communications -> Internet tel -> here you will see your access point. Click connect to service. It may connect - may not connect. Wait for a while if you get some error, dont worry, just reboot your phone. Once rebbot you will be connected using WCDMA. Remember if you are in wifi, it will connect wifi first. I could not find solution to bypass Wifi for WCDMA yet. Please post comments and any refinements.
