BANGALORE, DHNS: Reliance Infocomm, in association with the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), on Tuesday launched a novel bus route service, offering information on all BMTC bus routes on the Reliance handset. The details made available on R World of the Reliance IndiaMobile (RIM) phone of Reliance Handset, provides information about nearly 900 bus-stops, route details for over bus numbers and 9,000 route sectors in this service, claims Mahesh Prasad, President, Applications Solutions and Content Group, Reliance Infocomm, while speaking at a function organised for the launch, at Sarige Bhavan, the head office of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and the BMTC in Bangalore. The bus route application on the RIM phone provides the user with the option of choosing the starting area and destination area of his journey. Various options of bus routes available to the commuter will also appear along with the entire route map. After selecting the bus route number, the user will get end-to-end information on the area from where the bus starts, frequency of the bus, name of the bus stop from where the user has to board the bus, name of the destination bus stop and the timings of the bus. Stop-to-Stop search provides bus routes that go from users’ starting stop to the last stop. Area-to-Area search option provides all bus routes connecting the two areas and a list of stops in the selected areas. Copyright 2004, The Printers (Mysore) Private Ltd., 75, M.G.
